I've noticed a lot of movie threads lately and while I love ?fave? lists, they're everywhere! I mean, even Failbook Version 2.0 has a favorite films section hidden somewhere in the cluttered new interface. So, what to do? Top 10 lists of course!
We'll see how it goes, but the plan is as follows: every month I'll create a new Top 10 Movies thread with a unique theme. All you guys and girls have to do is hit me (not literally, unless you're into that kind of thing) with your very own Top 10 list corresponding to the theme. Piece of pie!
Below is a Top 10 list I created earlier, I realized it's too limiting so I decided on the theme shown in the title of this thread instead. However, it does present the format nicely...
Top 10 Movies Directed By Women
1. Lost In Translation (Sofia Coppola)
2. The Dead Girl (Karen Moncrieff)
3. The Savages (Tamara Jenkins)
4. Boys Don't Cry (Kimberly Peirce)
5. Water Lilies (C?line Sciamma)
6. Away From Her (Sarah Polley)
7. American Psycho (Mary Harron)
8. Ravenous (Antonia Bird)
9. Ripley's Game (Liliana Cavani)
10. Across The Universe (Julie Taymor)
Honorable Mentions:
Near Dark (Kathryn Bigelow)
Laurel Canyon (Lisa Cholodenko)
The Man Who Cried (Sally Potter)
2 Days In Paris (Julie Delpy)
Talk To Me (Kasi Lemmons)
Monster (Patty Jenkins)
Girlfight (Karyn Kusama)
Pay It Forward (Mimi Leder)
Testament (Lynne Littman)
Charlotte Gray (Gillian Armstrong)
Michael (Nora Ephron)
Frida (Julie Taymor)
Some of the above mentioned films nearly squeezed into my Top 10 list, but I watched them too long ago and I didn't want nostalgia to taint my view, so I decided to pull a fast one and simply include 'em as honorable mentions. Golly, I'm a clever bugger ;P
All-caps for the clueless:
