KEANU!

Yes!

I'd go for it.

Someone photoshopped the potential:

Could do I suppose. He needs a cigarette in his mouth for me to pass final judgement.

Jet = Bruce Willis though. That would be awesome :)

Hmmm. He has the look, that much is true. But does he have the talk and the walk? :P

Hrm. I'm not sure Reeves could pull off the wry swagger, the crooked smile, the very nature of Spike Spiegel. Too serias, yet not serias enough, if you know what i mean.

I'm rather interested in who they'll cast for Faye.

I'm damned curious about who they'll cast for Ed!!

The problem with Keanu, is with some other actors that 'Make it Big', is that the character of Neo is imprinted on him, similar to how Captain Piccard is imprinted onto Patrick Stewart.

And, well, the character of Neo is almost the complete opposite to the character of Spike, so it's hard to picture... and possible a comparison that will creep up in the movie, should they choose to cast Keanu.

Interested to see who will cast the depressing though insightful Jet, and the luscious Faye (let's hope they use her famed attire ^_^), the sorrowful Julia. Ed will probably be some teeny-bobber kid :P

However, it's the casting of Vicious that has me interested. Oddly enough, he may the the character I'm more worried about in terms of casting :P

You haven't seen Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventures have you? :P

Keanu Reeves is pretty much the only choice for Spike. I don't see a problem with it at all. looking at his past roles I think he'd make the perfect choice.

As for Faye, she'll probably be played by Carrie-Anne Moss, Jet Black will be played by Laurence Fishburne, Vicious will be played by Hugo Weaving and Ed will be played Clayton Watson. XD

You know, I wrote that as a joke, but I think it would actually work. :S

Not saying that he can't do it, but rather that the imprint of Neo may be hard to ignore, and will overlay Spike's character :P

For example. Patrick Stewart does plays. But whenever I see him on stage, I go "OMG CAPTAIN PICARD IS ON THE STAGE INFRONT OF ME. MAYBE I'M PART OF A HOLO-DECK SIMULATION, OR HAS HE BEEN SENT BACK IN TIME AGAIN, AND IS USING THIS AS A UNDERCOVER MEANS TO UNRAVEL A ROMULAN PLOT"

When I saw him at the QA session at the comic and film convention it was more: OMG WHY IS PICARD WEARING CIVILIAN CLOTHES? IS HE UNDERCOVER AND SHOULD I REVEAL HIS LOCATION TO THE ROMULON SPIES WHO ARE DISGUISED AS COSPLAYERS

:p

But yeah, Keanu Reeves might be able to play Spike - its been a while since I watched the movie and I have not watched the series.

This will prove to be very interesting, I hadnt even heard they were making a live action film... And yes, Keanu could do it, I think.

He's one of the better choices out there, that much is true.

But I'm worried about this whole movie thing in general, Hollywood can so easily ruin Cowboy Bebop, just look at what they're planning to do to Dragonball. It's a brilliant series and IMO some things are better left alone...

Meh, just mentally crowbar separate the two. The movie doesn't have to impact on the experience of the series if you treat it as a separate entity. I'm not demanding this be brilliant, I'm more interested in how they approach and handle the IP. A quality product would be a bonus :P

I consider the movie to be a gateway to the anime.
"You think the movie was good, the anime is miles better!"

Same with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Movie sucked, but it got people reading the books...
