In every game there is always one level that beat the ?living krap? out of me , just when think that you are through it something kills you or you miss a jump and plummet to a gruesome death.I listed a few of my ?nightmares?

Far Cry-At the volcano , trigens everywere, rockets flying , merc shooting your ass off and that?s even before you get up the hill

Tomb Raider-Lost Artifact-In the room with the ceiling that lowers and you have to throw two switches to open the door in floor

Half Life 1-the first boss were you have to mix the fuel and crawl past those tentacles

Doom3-Hell level-say no more

Could go on but what was yours?

C&C 3 - I sometimes just had to go on to easy mode.

HW1 - The first mission where you had to transport the containers with of humans to the mothership I had a hard time getting everyone in.

Evil Genius - those damned super spy's!

Omikron: The Nomad Soul - The final boss: Crappy controls, bad weapons and 99 lives I gave up after losing 20 lives [having to start the battle again everytime]

Unreal Tournament 2k3 (and 2k4): vs. Macolm on Serpentine = nightmare Then against <insert top player here> on new Hyperblast where I can't see a damn thing :(

FX Fighter: Fighting against final boss where everytime you fell down he grabbed your legs and chucked you out the arena

thats about all I can think of

Edit:

Real life: Doing sparring against the country head of our system (a 6th Dan) who strikes faster than you can blink

One of them was those damn speed bike levels on the NES version of battletoads. I've played most those levels you guys mentioned, and those are relatively easy compared, honestly.

Half-Life 2 - Holding off the marines in that prison area was not easy:

Mickey mouses great adventure (PSX)-Hardest level I have ever played because the games design was sooooo flawed it's not even funny.

'Go into the room mickey'
'Riiiight.Where is the door'
'Oh you cant see it because the view is perpendicular to the door and we have not made a sign that says 'door' so keep bashing against the walls untill you actually dissapear.

That and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was hard.

Ikaruga - Any stage beyond the 3rd.
Psyvariar - Same thing.
Stag XII - Same thing.

What is it with shooters and the 3rd stage?

-Some of the tasks on most of the Tony Hawk games are crazy.
-Bullet Witch has some tuffies here and there.
-Fighting Raam, (the) toughest boss I've faced in my life, killed him by pure luck I tell you. (not a level I know)
-Earth Worm Jim, anything after level 4, don't think I ever passed it.

no ways. You just had to keep them busy!!! That was the easy part! Just tag them so the valet's, spindoctors etc keep them busy. However if you said a full heat on all four continents with expert soldiers of all four territories flying in, I would believe! ;)

Most difficult stage hmmm.

- WCIII FRZ THRN The mission where you had to stop Illidan preforming the ritual.

- WCIII FRZ THRN The mission where you had to stop Illidan preforming the ritual.

Bah, that was easy. Just fly in a bunch of Chimeras. I do however agree that super spies are the actual evil in the game.

not that part in particular but soon after when you come under full out assault
after the trader comes by, nasty hectic.

other tough levels ... in small soldiers the playstation game
the level with the strip mines and flyers.
the level with the guys with Gatling guns all up and down massive ramps every where on huge trees.
oh and then for me I think its final fantasy viii on the top of the tower you fight some massive creature rather early in the game... killed almost all my people and my ifrit
followed by a huge mechanical spider that chases you.

Anachronox: The final boss battle.
Mechwarrior 2: The Clan Wolf mission where you have to protect the T3 spiderbot.
Homeworld 2: The whole game.
Far Cry: Penultimate (?) mission (starts at the top of a waterfall).

Oh, I'm sure there are more. This was top-of-the-head stuff.

The winged demon boss in Ninja Gaiden. Compared to her, the final boss isn't that hard. Mind you, by the time you get to him you're killing tanks and not taking any damage...

that level in super mario where you have to choose the right path in the dragons castle. Until a few days ago(mik mentioned it) I realised why I never finished it.

The last level in Pandemoniom. (Remember that game with the girl and the joker)
Any level after 4 in Shinobi (PS2 version)
Anything after the middle of Myth 3: The wolf age.

Hmmm it would have to be the part in God of War, where you are under water and you have to evade giant gliding rock things that catch you and smash you to death..took me ages to pass.

Last night, defeating Typhon - Bane of the Gods in Titan Quest. I was playing as a lvl 30 ritualist. I used about 80 health potions and 40 mana. You have to dodge 3 of his attacks in order to land only one attack. My pets were useless against him.

Now I'm going to wait and see what the end boss of Immortal Throne has in store for me!

Actually I just discovered that if you have a ranged attack you can kill him from outside the Floor of Death?. Wouldn't have gotten past him on epic otherwise... The trick is to zoom your view all the way out and then sit right on the edge of the door, use shift to spam attacks through the doorway. If you have a summon or something else that can lure him closer to you, use it and keep him near the door. Be careful, he can still flatten you with his range, but he won't come up to you and rip you apart. He'll also stand still (which he doesn't do when you're in the room with him) when setting the floor on fire, giving you tons of lovely free hits ;)

And yeah, that was hard.

Thanks. Will keep that in mind. Luckily, I only have ranged attacks.

Thing that really rapes me against big bosses, is that they don't seem to have cool-off periods for their attacks. Against Typhon, it felt like the whole world was constantly falling on me!

I don't if this is the most difficult level I've ever played, but definitely the one I've taken the longest to finish.

Stage 4(casino stage) of F-Zero on game gamecube when playing through the story. For some reason I was doing it wrong. Spent 3 hours trying to finish a track that should've taken 3mins to finish. Now it's ok though.

OMG, I'm actually stuck with that Casino leve as we speak... well, to be honest, for the last year I have been stuck on it. I don't really give it the time it deserves though. I finish the 2nd to hardest Grand Prix mode, so now it is on to the "Insane" mode (or whatever it is called.)

Z-Zero GX is most probably the best futuristic racer I have played since Wipeout 2097 (XL).

Anyway, I should continue that game, it is just too awesome not to finish.

Currently
-Shade of Aran, Burning Crusade (even though our guild downs him each week, it really needs all 10 guys to bring their A-game each time, or ****blocks the entire latter half of Karazahn).
Ugh. This fight makes me want to punch babies.

Previously
-Call of Cthulhu, "Night of the Fishmen", had me having to take a time out on numerous occasions, eventually gave up and uninstalled what was essentially a crap game anyway.

-A couple moments in God of War (the climb out of Hades for eg). I'm not very big on platformers, so when an awesome action game like GoW comes out, sometimes ya just gotta grin and bear the platform elements.

-Yeah, Farcry's endgame for me too. Mainly irksome because i refused to play with the 'save anywhere' 'hack' at the time.

Going wabak
-Last mission in original Syndicate, and basically all of the addon.
-First time i met lobstermen in Xcom2. They just...wouldn't... DIE!
-Playing against Harkonnen in final mission of Dune2. Getting Death-Hand missiles and Imperial nukes up the rear-end was funtimes, and by funtimes, i mean not at all fun.

Need for Speed underground 1. I think it is race 70 where you take on 3 x Honda S2000s. Will check at home but I remember spending a month just trying to get past the race. I eventually had to change to the hardest difficulty to do it.

Thanks Antharias, now I remember. For me the most difficult level ever:

The final race/stage/whatever in Need for speed: Most wanted. I swear, I almost litteraly ate my PS2 remote.

Gunmetal (xbox), that stage where the floating battleship attacks the two cities.

Ninja Gaiden (xbox), everything after the title screen.

God Hand (PS2), but it's fair.

Devil May Cry 3, the Beowulf boss. That game is difficult on its own, but I can take down most bosses in a couple of tries, but that guy just steamrolled over me.

What?!
That game was awesome!
Don't call it crap just cause you couldnt finish a level. ;)

There was a certain Track in Need for Speed Underground 1 which I was stick on for days.
7 Laps, I'd usually do fine untill lap 7 then screw up right at the end.
Didnt break my keyboard there though.

I broke it on a certain track in Flatout 2, my poor keyboard. ;(
