The sequel to Donnie Darko, named S. Darko, seems to tell the tale of the original film through the eyes of Donnie's sister. It looks... interesting, but I'm doubting that they tie it in in a satisfying way. God knows what they may do to it to make it more 'accessible' to 'young audiences' D:

Then we have TOKYO!, a rather awesome looking film. Three different directors each tell a short story that takes place within Tokyo, all appropriately surreal and...well... eastern in their bizarre nature. Some very big names there... I did not know about this before seeing this trailer, but I'm quite excited for it!

This is a bit of topic but does anyone know of site where I could download movie trailers directly? A lot of this streaming media content gets blocked at work. :|

I really hope it isn't just a cash in. The original DD is perfect and further exposition may ruin it. Hell, the directors cut came near as possible to doing just that, but managed to keep the integrity.

Just use the firefox add in called Download Helper. Let's you download streamed media. It's how I get the vidz from youtube and escapist.

The sequel to Donnie Darko,

To quote Christian Bale: "NO! ****! NO!"

Seriously, why can't they leave good movies alone? Why must they perpetually **** with good things! DAMMIT!!!

Why does everyone say DD was SO good. I've watched it twice and thought it was just an awful turnabout of 'It's a wonderful life' (um...spoiler?). You know I'm now going to have to dig out the tape and watch it AGAIN to try find what I'm missing -that bunny guy already haunts my nightmares. :) Third time's the charm!

On-topic: Why mess with it? Everyone whose seen it (especially those who loved it) know they didn't leave space for a sequel. If they do the same story with a different person, it'll just be lame.

Tokyo looks interesting

Tokyo?

Joon-ho Bong (The Host) + Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) = WIN.

Thanks, I've added it to my 'to-watch' list at http://www.sceneami.com/

I'll skip S. Darko

Use Real Player then. It pops up on Streaming video asking if you want to download it

*EDIT* oops, I don't know how you'd download it while is blocked - If you can see where the movie is meant to be, maybe the option to download with Realplayer will still appear in the right click menu.

The fact that they used the same actress who played Donnie's sister in the first film is a plus for "S. Darko", but I wont be going out of my way to see it.

As for Tokyo, I will have to see it, I mean, its Tokyo! xD

I dunno about S. Darko - there are some movies that are not meant to have sequels or spinoffs. The Mummy is one (God, Scorpion King was so horrendously bad) as is Starship Troopers (If only they actually made one that followed the book more closely though)
