I didn't know where to ask this question so I'm posting this thread in the hope that my time and money have not been wasted. I apologise if there is somewhere else I should've put this.

So, my problem is this. I purchased a 3 month Gold Live account from http://www.gamespointsnow.com and when I redeem the voucher everything is fine until I have to validate that I am who I say I am. Once I've logged into my Windows Live account, it asks for my address and what not. Now the issue - no matter what I put in, I get told that the zip code I have entered is incorrect.

My consoles locale is set to UK, I've created a new hotmail (Windows Live) account stating that I stay in the UK and the voucher was bought for use in the UK. I was told to do this by a mate of mine who set his up this way and everything works fine.

So could somebody please help me so that I can go home and enjoy a weekend of gaming goodness.

I know this may be an obvious question but did you put in a legitimate UK zip code? If not, just use a website like www.yellowpages.co.uk to find one.

Ya, I did but that didn't work, it wouldn't allow me to enter letters though. The problem, to me at least, seems to be that my original Windows live login seems to be locked down to the States.

What did you end up doing in the long term - so you can help others? :p

I pretty much created a new Windows Live account and migrated my account details across from the old account, then redeemed the code online, entered my credit card details on the UK xbox site, then entered a NY zip code and somehow it just worked. I am playing off UK servers, and from what I can see, with an American account. To be honest, I don't really know what happened, it is just working and I am happiness. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, once I've figured this out I will post proper instructions.

That's not how Xbox Live works. Almost all Xbox Live gameplay uses P2P connections, and the console region is totally irrelevant. Your region is used for subscription purposes only.

I'm pretty sure you would know better than me Azi with regards to this stuff, I've only just got setup with all this on Saturday and am so confused with what actually happened with the setup. I think half the problem is that in the time that I actually last used my Windows Live account, everything was changed. It used to be just a hotmail account, and now it's a wannabe facebook. All I want (and care about) is an account that works with no hassles, so far I have been very pleased with everything. It is still early days and soon I will get the hang of this.

Oh, doubtless. I think Xbox Live is absolutely the best way to hit online multiplayer. Steam comes close, but not close enough. Happy gaming.
