BioShock publisher Take-Two has lost a legal battle to try and wrest control of the URL www.bioshock.com from a company specialising in domain squatting, Name Administration Inc. (NA Media)

Gamer/Law reports that the publisher failed to win over a legal panel on a number of points, resulting in the site remaining under the control of NA Media, who first acquired it in 2004 - after BioShock had been unofficially announced but before Take-Two had registered it as a trademark.

The fact that Take-Two hadn't registered the trademarks at the time of the URL's registration weakened the publisher's case, but Name Administration also argued that Bioshock had other connotations separate from Take-Two's business, citing that cosmetics company Johnson and Johnson had expressed interest in the URL whilst it was mooting an unrelated Bioshock skincare range.

I found this site, and deemed it necessary to post some of the PC's that have been selected to be part of it. Seriously, they're absolutely amazing, and the time and dedication that has gone into them is astonishing. Some of them even have the front panel connectors modded to the rear of the motherboard to allow for a cleaner look. Take some time and just click through the builds, trust me, it's totally worth it if you're a PC enthusiast of any level.

Some of my favourites:
I came across this guy's exceptional reviews quite a while back, but I'm unsure if the rest of the NAG collective has had the pleasure.
Some reviews to get you started:
While there was no suggestion in court of a racial motive in the killing, Mogale is black and Roux is white, the South African Municipal Workers' Union called it "racially inspired" in a statement Monday. The union said the dead officer was one of its members.
Racial tension is never far from the surface in South Africa, 16 years after the end of white rule.

Another example is what a teacher at my school said to me today. She said I must work harder purely on the grounds on that I am a white male and I must give myself as much of a chance as possible, which made me realise that not much has really changed in South Africa, just reversed (a bit of a blunt statement, but I do not know how else to express it).

I don't know, I feel as if I'm ranting a little bit, but this kind of reality shakes me up a bit. I guess I am impatient in terms of the progress of South Africa in moving away from bias with regards to race.

I would like any response or expression, even criticism on my view would be awesome, I am looking for a little clarity in my messed up head.

Hi All

Hope you are all excited and ready for Rage 2010!

I am staying old school this year and looking at two possible games depending on the prize layout. I am taking no chances with sponsored prizes after Microsoft dropped me so badly last year.

I am considering Lord of the Rings - Battle for Middle Earth II Battle Chest version 2.5 knockout 1vs1 competition and possibly a Dawn of War II competition.

Let me know with your comments what you think.

Will have further details by next week.
Enjoy

What do you think about this set of ethics, as a guideline?

(To the more knowledgeable posters on this forum - if you see what I'm saying or getting at, or will be getting at, don't give the game away, please)...

(To the more knowledgeable posters on this forum - if you see what I'm saying or getting at, or will be getting at, don't give the game away, please)

After the little discussion about how it seems that religion (specifically, the middle-class white-centric Christian-type of religion) is the *only* way to teach children ethics - the validity of such a statement clearly dubious beyond belief - I had a thought.

What I'd like to pose to you, is this: read the list below, and vote if you think they're a good set of guidelines to live a life by, generally. Vote yes if you'd personally try and abide by at least most of them, because you find them reasonable and rational.

1. Don't give opinions or advice, unless you are specifically asked to do so.
2. Don't bother people with your troubles unless you are sure they want to know.
3. When in someone's home, show them respect or don't go there.
4. If a guest in your home disrespects you on purpose, ask them to leave.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are clearly given the signal to do so.
6. Do not take what does not belong to you, unless someone asks you to relieve them of their possession.
7. Do not complain about something you are not being subjected to directly.
8. Do not harm children.
9. Do not kill animals unless you are attacked, or for their food.
10. When in public, do not bother anyone. If someone bothers you, ask them to stop. If they won't, leave. If they won't let you leave, defend yourself.

The list is general, and obviously just like most commandments that come in base-10, it is open to interpretation to some degree and obviously not all points are valid in every situation. Guidelines is as guidelines do.

So, vote.

Well ladies and gentlemen, the Call of Duty 4 scene has a small shining light.

After it was announced that Do Gaming would not be hosting a Call of Duty 4 Competition at rAge 2010, Incredible Connection and Gaming Inc stepped up to the plate to host a small scale but high stakes Call of Duty 4 LAN Final.

Incredible Connection, Alienware, Logitech, Acer and Verbatim are getting involved with this competition and it is being run, administered and put together by Gaming Inc with me being the head admin and boss man for this event.

For anyone that wants to know more information about how to qualify for the competition read through this post.

To summarize, there will be 3 on-line one night cups, each cup will give us several winners that will qualify for the 16 team LAN final. The top 4 from tonight's cup, the top 4 from Sunday's cup and the top 6 from next Wednesdays cup will all walk away with rAge LAN Tickets FREE!! As well as birth into our competition and a whole heap of other goodies.

So read through the story above, follow the links, get your team registered and start playing!

Tonights cup entries close at 22:00. It is a little bit late notice for tonight, however you can enter our next cups without problems!

For those of you that have Do Gaming accounts or teams, you need to do the following.

5 Teams

Link your Gaming Inc profile to your Do Gaming Profile

Add your team to the competition

place top 4 in order to guarantee yourself free entry to rAge 2010!

There are some clauses, and once a team has won their tickets and earned their spot they are NOT allowed to enter the following cup, so this means once the top teams have qualified it becomes EASIER to qualify!

Sign up now, I will keep tabs on this topic should anyone have any questions or queries!

Well, I'll be using pygame for this "competition", also a big thanks to dislekcia and Aequitas from QCF for lending me some lovely cake and a look at their code for their random ship generation of complete awesome! <more props to them and shameless Spacehack punting will take place in game when I get there>

Without further ado, I will have to share with you Vector Vacuum!

What is it?
The shmup I never got around to getting anywhere with, I aim to make all the art in game procedurally generated (thanks to dis and aeq for the code sample to get an idea of where to start). Essentially I hope to evolve this into a tribute to Spacehack (still waiting for this to be sold on XBL so I can buy it).

How will it incorporate the theme?
There will be a global score, to allow players to drop in or out of the game and play together. When the game isnt being played by a human it will go into "autopilot" mode where a ship will be automatically piloted but that doesnt add to total score.

For a player to "drop in" they simply have to click the left mouse button, for them to drop out they must just die (then a new ship spawns and the next player "drops in" or the current player can continue), there will be "milestones" to reach, when you reach a milestone your score will be added to the total, if you die your current score will be subtracted from the total. At the milestones I hope to let you choose new weapons, etc, and the total game score will determine what weapons will be available to you.

Auto-pilot mode will never add to or subtract from score, but at "milestones" will randomly select a different weapon that you have access to to use.

v0.1 - Ship generation testing
Space bar = new ship.
Arrow keys = movement.
~4.2mb zip, v0.1

v0.2 - first playable (no scoring yet)
Spacebar = respawn/stop ai playing (when the game pauses it is waiting for the "next player", use spacebar to respawn. the ai will shoot, but nothing else at this point in time)
Arrow keys - move around
Note: you have 10 health, so you can take 10 bullet hits before you die.
They will be a Standard Edition, which is just the game, a Collector's Edition, which will come with a driver's magazine, artcards, a vehicle pack and more, and the Signature Edition, which will come in a steel case, and which will contain a model car, a Gran Turismo leather wallet, a coffee table book, USB key, two car packs and more.

Collector's Edition

This eye-catching edition comes with plenty of added horsepower inside its high-end collector's box. As well as the game itself, you'll get:

* Exclusive Special Edition inlay sleeve art

* 200+ page 'Apex' driver's magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies and more

* Five Collector's Edition artcards featuring exclusive artwork

* In-game 'ChromeLine' vehicle pack: five performance-enhanced cars ready to race

* Exclusive dynamic theme to customize your PS3 XMB

Signature Edition

This luxury edition puts the pedal to the metal as soon as you open its contoured steel case – which is finished in Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG 'Obsidian Black'. As well as the game, the 'Apex' driver's magazine and the ChromeLine car pack, you'll get:

* An exclusive, branded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG 1:43 scale model car

* A Gran Turismo leather wallet and metal Gran Turismo key fob

* A Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo

* A bespoke Gran Turismo 5 USB key with a trailer showing the collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Polyphony that brought the SLS AMG to screen

* Six additional in-game 'Stealth' cars including the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and a dynamic theme

Plus, Sony will be running a very special competition for those that buy the Signature Edition (and are over 18, with a valid driver's license), namely, the chance to win a real-life Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG – your very own gull-winged, 6.3-litre-engined supercar

This competition will be running in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Saudi Arabia, and will combine in-game and real world driving challenges. Full terms and conditions will be made available at the Gran Turismo website.

Not only has the GT site received a massive revamp since the lest time I visited it, but this is just full of so much win it has now officially replaced my want list for Christmas. The Signature edition has just about everything I could hope for in a special edition box set for a racing game! ^_^

I called BT today and asked about pre-ordering, their price for the Signature is R1555, Collector's is R850, and the normal game is around R600.

So far, I love what they're doing for the millions of fans like me who've waited patiently for the last five/six years to get my hands on the new version. Who else is getting it? Who else can afford it :P

Hell, just the box alone (painted in the same Obsidian Black paint as the SLS AMG) makes me all giddy inside, as well as the APEX magazine.
