I found this site, and deemed it necessary to post some of the PC's that have been selected to be part of it. Seriously, they're absolutely amazing, and the time and dedication that has gone into them is astonishing. Some of them even have the front panel connectors modded to the rear of the motherboard to allow for a cleaner look. Take some time and just click through the builds, trust me, it's totally worth it if you're a PC enthusiast of any level.

Some of my favourites:

Hey guys

The problem is that my profile won't sign in. It says "downloading profile, plz wait", anyways after a while it says that it can't sign in because of connection problems.

Now I've opened the ports of my router for games for windows live, updated my g4w-live app and disabled my firewall. This off course with no success. My profile worked before, but I had to get a new router and a new pc (let's just say no UPS).

If any one has some tricks to fix this problem, plz help me.

Thanks

Might make sense

According to a post over at Donanimhaber.com, AMD's upcoming Radeon HD 6700 series might have a 256-bit memory interface.

The 256-bit memory interface comes as a surprise considering that the current HD 5700 series features a 128-bit memory interface, but it could make sense as all reports indicate that the upcoming HD 6000 series graphics cards are all about evolution.

This also could be the way to keep the available HD 5700 series alive as AMD can drop its price and keep selling it until they clear out the stock as thanks to the "evolution" and the wider memory interface, HD 6700 series should end up significantly faster.

Judging by some early benchmarks, HD 6000 cards will offer a significant performance boost over the current generation, but bear in mind that they still stick to the same 40nm production process. Using a wider memory bus could be one of the ways of boosting performance while using the same production process, but it would also increase production costs.

You can find more here.
Cell C reveals it’s highly anticipated 21.6 Mbps HSPA+ data pricing which is set to shake up the local broadband market

Cell C CEO Lars Reichelt unveiled the company’s new branding and strategy earlier this month, and it quickly became clear that he is set on taking the battle to Vodacom and MTN.

To date Cell C has failed to compete in the broadband market because it did not have a 3G/HSDPA network, but armed with a brand new 21 Mbps HSPA+ network Reichelt looks ready to shake up the mobile broadband market.

Cell C has launched two broadband offerings which are sure to create a stir in the South African broadband environment. The two offerings are:
For R1,499 you will get a modem capable of speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and 2GB of data every month for a period of 12 months.
For R2,999 you will get a modem capable of speeds of up to 21.6Mbps and 5GB of data every month for a period of 12 months.

This means that the two products will cost subscribers R63 per GB on the R1,499 product and R50 per GB on the R2,999 product.

Despite the fact that this pricing is more expensive than what has been communicated with Cell C shops earlier this month, it is still far cheaper than Vodacom and MTN’s current pricing which hovers just below R200 per GB.

Cell C is expected to announce its launch plans later this week.

So, that new-and-improved Xbox 360 controller? It's real. It's silver. And the d-pad transforms, switching from the Xbox's traditional, kinda crappy disc to an honest-to-goodness four-directional d-pad—all you've gotta do is twist it. Now for the bad news.

It's only available as part of a $65 play-and-charge kit bundle that comes out Nov. 9. Booooo. Even the other improvements, like comfier triggers, don't add up to that kind of value in a forced bundle. That said, it seems like we won't see this in other controllers, since Major Nelson mentions that Microsoft has patented the crap out of it. The real test is how it performs in real life—is it actually a better d-pad? We'll have to see.
A group of 33 Chilean miners trapped in a collapsed gold-copper mine 700 meters underground have received a bunch of PSPs to make their ordeal a bit more bearable.
We’re not sure how many consoles or games were lowered down to the stricken miners, but we guess they’ll have plenty to go around and play a few football games (or tournaments) and lift their spirits.

A critical Windows DLL vulnerability that makes several widely used programs targets for remote hijacks surfaced in the news this week. Among the affected applications are Firefox, Adobe Photoshop and uTorrent. Since the news broke dozens of exploits have already surfaced. Luckily uTorrent was one of the first to fix the vulnerability and now all users are encouraged to update their client. Due to a DLL load hijacking vulnerability in the Windows operating system, dozens of applications have become a target for remote hijack exploits. Since Microsoft refuses to patch Windows, the developers of the affected applications have to take measures on their own.

After the news about the vulnerability became public earlier this week, several pieces of exploit code surfaced, attacks that allow outsiders to take control over the PCs of users who run the affected applications.

Included in the list of vulnerable programs are familiar names such as Firefox, Adobe Photoshop, VLC and also the popular BitTorrent client uTorrent. Upon hearing the news the uTorrent developer team didn’t sit still and a few days ago an essential update was released that should fix the DLL vulnerability.

“There is a DLL vulnerability in all versions of Windows affecting a great deal of software applications. Subsequently, attack code targeting the uTorrent client surfaced on a third-party website, and while so far no attacks have been reported to us, we have released uTorrent 2.0.4 to fix this vulnerability,” uTorrent Community Manager ‘Firon‘ explained.

“The new client disables loading of DLLs from the current working directory and prevents this exploit from functioning,” Firon said, adding an ensuring message for uTorrent users. “We take our user’s security very seriously, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

It is needless to say that all uTorrent users are encouraged to update their clients to the most recent version. With a userbase of more than 50 million monthly users uTorrent is a major target for exploits, so it’s good to see that BitTorrent Inc. takes these security threats seriously.

vol 13 issue 5 page 93

After reading the review i was convinced that this was the phone for me.

The final lines here is what bought me.. this is straight from the review..
"If your in the market for a android phone that has ALL the bells and whistles with exellent build quality, the Xperia X10 should definitely be on your shortlist"

Truely the shortest list ever.

I went out and bought it with the little savings i have and was amazed by the speed and features..
i usualy buy phones with gaming also in mind.
But turns out that every X10 has no multi touch due to a hardware fault making alot of quality games unplayable.
Including N.O.V.A www.near-orbit-vanguard-alliance.com

Vodacom also does not accept returns..
Also don't tell me it's the firmware cuz i updated it to 2.X yesterday after vodacom said no go..
I'm not leaving the forum untill this sin is atoned for...
I am so sad now i wan't to die..

AMD Kills ATI Brand, Future Products to Feature Brand Change

This had to happen eventually, and it did just happen: AMD has dissolved the ATI brand completely, and consolidated ATI brands, such as Radeon and FirePro under the AMD main brand. Under the new branding scheme, new graphics products AMD launches (such as the upcoming Radeon HD 6000 series), will do away with "ATI" completely from the logo, marketing material, and so on, and the market will, as it already has been doing since the AMD-ATI merger, albeit informally, refer to Radeon/FirePro products as "AMD Radeon" and "AMD FirePro".

AMD explains its move as an "evolution of the AMD brand portfolio", saying that consolidation of ATI-branded products under the main brand results in reduced marketing overhead. It claims to have surveyed several thousand discrete graphics-aware users in in the U.S., U.K., Germany, China, Japan, Brazil, and Russia. The survey revealed that when made aware of ATI-AMD merger, AMD preference triples; AMD brand is stronger than ATI (against graphics competitors); and that people see Radeon and FirePro product names more conspicuous than ATI, indicating a "permission" to consolidate ATI into AMD. The survey was conducted entirely by AMD.

The company also claimed that this is the perfect time AMD could possibly consolidate ATI brand, because Radeon products are experiencing good sales, and there's high market penetration of AMD's graphics products. Finally, AMD revealed the new brand logos that are nearly identical to the present ATI logos, of course, minus the revered "ATI".

Looking ahead in the future, AMD expects its Vision branding strategy to cover a wide range of PC processor products, making it easy for consumers to choose a PC. Individual processors still carry their own logos, while Vision serves as a blanket logo to describe what the PC is capable of. AMD made it clear that existing Radeon HD 5000 series product (including the Radeon HD 5000 which are being manufactured or will be manufactured), are not affected by this change.

The transition will take place gradually. While current products aren't affected, with future product-lines (starting with Radeon HD 6000 series, and next-generation FirePro). Partners can choose between two kinds of logos (shown in the first image above), one which is more recognizable with the AMD corporate logo embedded, and one without.
