Thread: Technology bargains

  1. #1

    Default Technology bargains

Not just for pc hardware, but anything from electric toothbrushes to lawnmowers to HDTVs to MP3 players. Any bargain that you think someone else might be interested in.

    I'll start off with this:

    A Force 3d Freezer DHT 4870 512MB graphics card for R2600!

    http://www.prophecy.co.za/force3d-hd...r-p-29108.html

The cooler really works. Keeps the card around 20c cooler than most other 4870s.

Hi Fi corp have a 19" lcd for R1099. It's topview, which I've never heard of, but it's damn cheap.

Rather off-topic, but can this thread evolve to include second-hand stuff that users on the forum are selling? We usually have this massive problem when buying secondhand, because we have no idea what condition the parts are in or what abuse they've been subjected to. Plus, everyone's got parts they can sell to make the next upgrade a little cheaper, so why not? Who's with me on this?

No. We already have the buy/sell/trade thread. It's in OT. No need to create another.

I'd like to add that there's a 4870 X2 from Force3D, also at Prophecy, but going for R4446,00. Now that isn't a bad price (for a X2) at all - that is, if you have four and a half thousand lying around.

I still think the Q6600 2nd hand is a realy bargain. People see 45nm and they wet their pants but the Q6600 just keeps on trucking. I am looking for one at the moment.

    That was a rip off.

I got a Samsung SyncMaster 2333SW for R2.2k about a month back. Seriously, IC overcharges way to much for their products.

    But consider that the average price of a 19" Samsung is about R1600 (store-dependant), getting a 20" for R1700 isn't a bad deal ;-)

That's silly-don't just shop around in one location/type of store.
Do your home work and look for a decent retailer.
Cyberdyne, for instance, is very well priced and is retail but you need to register.

They had a special on a WD black 640gig HDD @ R750+- plus a free IDE and SATA cable.
Custom PC UK just gave that same drive a 94% rating.
It's very very fast by the way.

See if you know where to look :-)
