If stuff is installed on the card, move to the phone before removing the memory card (Settings, Applications, go to app and select "Move to Phone). Otherwise, you can clone the card with something like Nero or HDD Clone, though I'm not sure if that will work. Installed stuffs is a biaatch. Music and pics and vids you should know poses no issues, copypasta is the best for them.

Then, after the card has been removed from your phone you can format it in your mother's phone before use, it will clean off everything nicely.

I'll try moving the apps across, hopefully space isn't too much of an issue. Thanks for the tip on pics and stuff, that should help me.

It seems that simply copying the contents of the memory card does work. I have tested Opera Mini, Angry Birds, Documents to Go, Stick Cricket, and they all work.

I'm not sure if I just git lucky, but this is really nice and easy.

Nah I'll guess it's supposed to work that way. Android is a beauty!

That it is. Only oddity was that my ringtone and whatsapp tones got changed.

The registry entries and save files got reset as they are stored on the phone. Messages, contacts and contact info is stored on the Whatsapp server, therefore they remained.

Ringtone will obviously change as the old one simply isn't there anymore. The old locator for the file was no longer applicable, so it reset to default. It's all pretty simple when you think about it a little... :)

Like I said, I'm not really tech savvy. While for the most part, the copy and paste worked well, some small issues did creep up. It could be to do with locators, but all my photos, pre-loaded pictures and videos ended up in my photo albums. Overall, I'm still really happy that my phone works. I was worried it would refuse to read any files or something.

Ah no you don't have to worry about that. With regards to the albums - I have that as well. For some reason there was a time when all my DL'ed pictures got dropped in my "Camera" folder, which was fairly annoying... :P

A look at Windows Phone 8 and what you'll be missing out on

Last month Microsoft previewed Windows Phone 8 to the world and I never quite caught up with the news to bring it to you, dear reader. But today I can and you'd best take this in before you go in for a closer look - if you have a device currently running Windows Phone 7.5, you can't upgrade to Windows Phone 8. You need a whole new device for that.

I cant say that I am a fan of the Windows Phone 8. Looks trashy. WIN 7 FTW!

@video - I have seen that before but it cracks me up each time.

Idk.. doesn't android sing, dance and receive phone calls already?
Unless it can run x86 or x64 windows programs on it, it's not really windows then is it?

    Review: LG C660 Android Smartphone

Most people when they sign up for a contract pay very little attention to the actual contract and more to the phone they're getting with it. These days mobiles and especially those of the smartphone variety have become less of a status symbol and more of a necessity, with just a little over nine to ten million of these things in service in the hands of people like yourself, dear reader.

Its with this trend in mind that Google's Android mobile operating system has become one of the dominant players on the market, usurping RIM and its Blackberry lineup in as little as two years in the American and European markets. With a wide variety of phones by third-party manufacturers and features such as Google Play, Google Maps and their newly debuted Google Drive, the company aims to offer all smartphones a chance to be the best fit for you. So it was with high expectations that I had some time with the LG C660 Optimus Pro and I came away from this cheap Droid suitably impressed.

My question today is not advanced I think, also probably not well formed but anyways here we go.
I have the Logitech Z506 5.1 Speaker Set. I like it, much better than my previous USB powered no name speakers. Anyway I have limited (if any at all) knowledge of audio. All that I know is that bass is produced better when I plug the setup in with all three cables instead of just the green one. I'm guessing black or orange is dedicated to signal to the sub woofer and the remaining for the rear speakers. Either way Is there a way that I can plug my phone which has just aux out into the speaker and output surround sound? As in an adapter from six channel to aux? I have a Samsung Galalxy S I9000 if its any help?

I know that most Samsung phones only support a TRSS connector that plugs in both the headphones and microphone to use in one cable. If you plug in a 3.5mm lead it'll still be stereo-out, but there is a chance that there's a HDMI adapter out there that outputs to surround that you can use.

As for for the bass question, the Z506 set has a tiny subwoofer in each satellite that produces bass, negating the need for larger transformers and stuff inside the actual subwoofer box. That's why compared to the X-530 it sounds punchier, because its less catered to the treble side of things. Also, the orange connector is for the center/subwoofer output.

Edit: If you have the 3.5mm adapter, you can output stereo sound through RCA to the Z506, which will then replicate it across all the satellites.

If you don't have it or can't find it, you'll have to look for a 3.5mm cable with a TRSS connector as pictured above that outputs video and sound through RCA jacks.

They're not that hard to find, but if there's a Nokia store or Care Point near to you they usually have the CA-75U cable, which is confirmed to work with the I9000. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, most 3.5mm to audio RCA cables can work.

I do have a 3.5 to Stereo Cable, does that utilize all of my speakers? Obviously if I plug it into the red and white of the woofer.

I have the same phone and the same speakers. Just plug the green cable into your phone and gooi. It plays WONDERFULLY. Rear speakers automatically get switched on to fill in the sound, and the bass pumps. You can do the same with an RCA to 3.5mm cable when using the additional stereo input if you want to have the cable lying there just for use when needed. It's how I installed my GF's Z506's.

Oh, and if you want some 5.1 emulation, just enable it on your SGS. It sounds pretty damn awesome, specially in games (Dead Space, OMF).

EDIT: Okay, let me edit a little. I was tired as hell at time of posting and I just typed what came to mind. I have my Z506's connected to my PC with the two supplied cables (Green, Orange and Black connectors). Green connector is for the front two speakers (stereo). The Orange connector is for the Center speaker (mono, single channel). The Black connector is for the rear two speakers (stereo). The subwoofers deducts the bass from all 5 channels and is used to fill the lacking audio (low frequencies, usually around 200Hz and lower). Sound systems with a separate, usually monoblock, amplifier for the subwoofer will have an additional connector, coloured Grey for the subwoofer (dedicated).

    Now, the Z506's are smart:

Plugging in a stereo source using the two RCA connectors (Red and White plugs) is simple, as the channels to the amplifier input are simply bridged (literally a trace running from the front to the rear inputs of the amplifier) and the rear speakers are made copies of the front speakers. Thus, the front left and rear left speakers will play the same, as will the front right and rear right speakers. The center will fill, playing at a slightly reduced volume and enhancing things like voice in either music, games or movies.

Traditionally the other input, the one with the three plugs (Green, Orange and Black) will not do this, but instead only play the front to speakers, as the other inputs of the amplifier will not receive a signal making them not amplify anything and therefore remain dead. BUT the Z506's detect this lack of input on the other channels, and automatically transfer the signal to the rear and center channels. I'm not quite sure how this is done, but I'm guessing a signal-depending switch using a simple transistor circuit is used, but I've not yet tested this theory.

Anyway, it all comes down to that, if you use either the Red & White RCA's or the Green connector cable as the input from a stereo source (like a cellphone (3.5mm audio jack) or PS3 (using the AV cable)) the Z506's will use all channels (5 speakers, 1 subwoofer, thus making 5.1) to reproduce the sound, giving you a full audio experience from a lacking source.

Oh, and sorry for the longer reply. I was pretty into sound and things a few years back, this sparked something... Damnit I can see myself starting to build amplifiers again, I still have a decent heatsink and a huge transformer around somewhere...

Busy browsing my Samsung Soul(U900V vodafone ruined edition) earlier in the week and I discovered that my phone can run .swf flash files that were copied to my micro-sd card.Unfortunately they play without sound and can be played once and used as wallpaper as well but I can't play any flash game I have in that format because I have no input device like a mouse or proper touch screen.

They have to be small though as ones bigger than a meg or more won't run?Did not know that you could run small .swf flash files on my phone... :D
