They have a trailer for a song? Doesn't anybody else find that a little bizarre?
Probably not their idea, I have a feeling this is more aimed at marketing Transformers 2.
Just listened to the premiere on their website, I really like it :D
I think it is an awesome song, its a real pity they moved the expected release date for their concept album to next year.
I really like it. Sounds to me as if they're trying to blend their old and new sounds. Minutes to Midnight was a hit and miss, some liked it, others preferred their harder rock. If they really are trying to combine the two, I think it bodes well for the next album.
Lysis, where did you hear that?
I must keep an ear open for it. I love Linkin Park.
LP are releasing a concept album? God help us all...
Not a fan? You do know they are one of the most popular bands in the world?
Doesn't make them good. Mariah Carey is one of the highest selling artists of all time. Doesn't mean that musically it's worth a ****.
Appealing to the lowest common denominator is easy. Remeber, at least one quarter of the worlds population is retarded.
That said, if you dig, then dig em. You won't convert me, so don't try. I've listened to all their albums and haven't enjoyed anything since Hybrid Theory (when I was 15). There is so much music out there that is 100x more interesting.
linkyIn October 2008 Shinoda revealed on his blog that he, Farrell and Hahn had begun working on two song ideas at Hahn's home, with studio recording to begin in earnest soon.[52] In 2008, Bennington announced that Linkin Park's fourth studio release will be a concept album.[53] The band has not released many specific details about the album.[1] In an interview with MTV in November 2008, Bennington stated, "It sounds a little daunting to me, so, I think my confidence level will drop, but when it was presented to us by this friend of ours, we liked the idea. It was an inspiring idea, and it was something we could relate a lot of the things we like to write about to".[2] He also added that the band planned to begin recording in December for a six-week session. The album was expected in mid 2009, but in late March, Mike Shinoda wrote on his blog saying "We're hoping to have Chester's Dead By Sunrise album out this fall, and the new LP album out early next year."[54]
Cleric what is it exactly that you don't like about them? I think that they are a rather talented bunch of people, they might not be pushing musical boundaries the way bands like Pink Floyd did/do, but they still produce an amazing sound. I am not trying to convert you here I'd just like you to elaborate on your feelings.
What I like about LP:
Cherster's voice
Decent crunchy guitar
What I don't like about LP:
Possibly the worst "rapper" in the world with the most attrocious ryhmes
Over-production makes it sound soul-less
Verse-choruse-verse-chorus-bridge-quite verse-chorus-chorus (for just about every song)
Lyrics that could have been written by an agree 13 year old
Valid and understandable dislikes there Cleric. That said, I don't really mind the production, although that is a matter of personal taste. I agree that they do have a rather formulaic approach to writing songs, but I don't think that really detracts from the sound they have. Perhaps a concept album will force them to re-asses their approach to writing songs.
It is rather strange for such a mainstream band to be doing a concept album. Or is it just because they wan one theme so that all the lyrics can be similar without it sounding too lazy?
No, I agree with you Cleric. Those are valid points (except for your criticism of Mike Shinoda, who I rate as one of the best rappers of our generation).
Except I like the repetition, and I couldn't give a **** about the lyrics (Hands Held High is particularly bad). So I guess that's the difference between us.
I admit, I've never heard those guys, but have you heard some of Fort Minor's songs? I like his rapping style and his voice suits it perfectly. Besides I think he's tons better than these 'gangstas' like 50 Cent, T.I. etc.
Dude don't laugh at him for his opinion.
Personally I dont like Mike Shinoda I think he isn't very good at anything except stinking.
I much prefer Chester and he is the main reason I like Linkin Park, although I must say I didn't like their latest album, I prefer Meteora and Hybrid Theory
