Thread: Your best injuries :O

Hey guys! Some free advice please! I figured since we’ve got all these Ninja’s around the forums someone would know:

On Saturday I was playing football and I got elbowed in the jaw, right on the muscle, close to the ear, just below the cheekbone. It was pretty damn hard and very nearly knocked me out cold. There is slight swelling but no visible bruising – the swelling hasn’t gone down much since Saturday. The muscle feels very sore and I can’t open my mouth fully or chew properly. I’m wondering if I should be trying to stretch the muscle, or should I not put it under too much strain until it’s fully healed?

Sounds like the same muscle that gets damaged when one has one's wisdom teeth removed. Judging by my experience from that, I would say let it heal itself and try to monitor its progress (see how far you can open your mouth). Of course I was seeing a physiotherapist after the wisdom tooth op, so the same might not apply here.

Go get it x-rayed. Sounds like a hard enough impact to do damage to the jaw itself, rather be safe than sorry.

I think I'll do that, the swelling has gone down but I still feel some pain when chewing, also I yawned last night and it hurt like hell!

Could be muscle damage, or alternatively, a possible dislocation. Either way I would get it checked out. I have also learnt from experience ( and several bar fights) that there is a spot on the side of the face that, when hit, reacts like a dead leg does. sometimes going into spasm for a week or so.

    this one time..... :P

I was at a friends house and they were cutting down a tree with a tree-house in it,
so me Bob went up to scavenge as much wood as possible. An hour later, all that
was let of our mighty fort was one half-nailed-down plank. I had finish my side of said
plank and started picking berries and throwing them at things, from the very end on my side.
What i didn't notice was that Bob was just about finished and when he was, he got up and stepped off the plank.
this then caused the plank to see-saw and sent me plummeting towards a rather large tool box and Axe.
Luckily i missed it but still left with a broken arm.

    not fun....

When i was young, i ran through a curtain, on my way to the bathroom, really fast and hit my nose like (the point like between the eyes) and broke it in 2 or something like that, at least i didnt need the bathroom after that.

Then i broke my wrist playing football, was playing keeper and sprained it and when i fell to the ground it broke apparently?

And lastly tore the vertical legiments in my left knee playing rugby so had surgery on that but otherwise im still in one piece :)

Being hit in the face by a microwave door, accidentally stabbing my thumb with a pair of scissors yeah thats about it...not as bad as some of the injuries you guys have had but
they are probably the worst ive had...Im actually quite lucky when doing dangerous things...Im more prone to being the cause of an injury on someone else...
Fell on someone, trying to attempt a flying kick and hit them in the face...and I remember when i was little I bit the passenger next to me on a plane....yeah you heard me bite them...I really hate flying really bad turbulence and the plane was constantly going up and down....so yeah I HAD REASON!!!,oh yeah and ive enver broken any bones...amazing!

    Best injury?

    1) Rattlesnake bite - right hand (was milking it and I lost my grip and it bit me, was a dry bite though, luckily)

    2) Boa Constrictor bite - right hand (boa was 3m long, its mouth enveloped my whole hand)

    3) Lacerated fingers and hand - left hand (car accident a few years ago, looked like I had punched the windshield)

    4) Broken toe - left foot (on the foot of a chair when I was veeeeeeery young, dancing and singing to 101 Dalmatians)

    5) Eyebrow cut open - left eyebrow (playing a rough game of water polo and some guy launched out of the water underneath me, knocking me the fudge out and cutting my brow open, almost drowned in a pool of my own blood, good times)

    6) Burn marks on arms - both right and left, near the elbow (when my mom was preggers with me, the doctors recommended aborting me, as I had had exposure to the radiation in Chernobyl, as my folks had been honeymooning in the area, and their tour guide took them through an area that was irradiated. They only found out after and the doctors said I might be affected. So they tried to abort me, but missed. So when I was born finally they took me for sweat tests where they strap some electrodes to you and turn up the voltage to make you sweat. They turned the voltage too high and ended up burning holes into my bones. My folks sued them and used the money to open a business, lol. To this day I have the scars and a crippling fear of needles)

Got scars of all of the above except for the broken toe, it just bends funny.

Not Chernobyl specifically, the area was off limits, but they went to some place nearby that was previously thought to be unaffected but then was later shown to be irradiated due to the fallout.

I feel your pain, about a year ago I was still living on a farm when a feral cat got stuck between my kitchen cupboards and the wall. When I was trying to get him out he managed to get hold of my hand and bit pretty much all the way through it, just under my thumb. If you saw my earlier posts you will see that I used to **** myself up on a regular basis, but that cat bite was one of the most painful injuries I've ever sustained. If you ever get bitten by an animal, especially a wild one, get that **** checked out fast. I left the bite for a few days and only went to a doctor when the skin around the bite started going black.
