    Default Constructive Criticism PARKING

Rage as always, was amazingly awesome. :-) \o/

Enjoying it more and more every year.

You guys need better organization about how you plan your parking tho, on the Friday was fine but as I returned on Thursday afternoon to park, (went home and slept, I know, I'm getting old) was an absolute nightmare.

Where I used to park, that secure parking area that all the lanners always parked, it was closed with a lovely big no entry sign on it, perhaps I should have known better but I struggle interpreting a closed no entry gate any other way. (Okay I should have known better)

So I looked for parking elsewhere, found it, and some guard wanted to charge me R15, I nearly murdered him, (the traffic jams due to construction along the national highways were certainly a contributing factor).

So I barged into the nag Lan parkings, they asked me for a parking access permit thingy, I nearly murdered them too. I was never given one, don't know where they came from or what they were used for. (After that, I left, returned and left again, never being asked for said cheap piece of paper.)

When then I entered Dome, after nightmare parking episode after near muderings, (slight exaggeration) I made some inane ramblings about parking and was handed said piece of paper by some friendly female.

I know the parking is crazy, not enough spaces and traffic et cetra and the piece of paper scheme was supposed to help it but in the end was counter productive, certainly in my experience.

I don't have any magic suggestions besides better signage (Yes I saw your signage, it was there, it could be more, think airport style, every single turn is singed) and maybe one or two official people types wondering the area bring order to chaos?

TLDR, parking organization is an issue please try and address it for future years.

P.S If I wasn't running on previous years memory of where to park, I would have been completely confused.

I am so glad you have raised this issue! The parking was not well organised and the guards were rude and obnoxious.

The one ass-hole yelled at my fiance and reduced her to tears for not having one of those white parking leaflets. No one told her that she had to have one.

I marched up to that idiot and put him in his place. Fker.

I know that some guys had issues, but I'd like to point out that I accidentally left my passanger side window open over the entire Saturday night while I was at the LAN, with my GPS lying in plain view, and nothing was stolen, so big up to the fact that the secure parking was actually secure.

No one asked me for anything for the parkings??? :/

I found the guards fairly polite and helpful, but I simply parked in the PnP parking to avoid the various hassles of the rAge parking.

I would have to agree, Parking was not an issue and security overall was great. Thanks!

    Thanks for proving my point.

A little more clarity on this issue would have spared others and me quite a lot of grief.

Umm well my clan mates were in VIP section and that seemed well organised, signed our names when we got there for the first time to allow us in then we just showed them the blue strip to let them in every other time.... Maybe take this across to all gamers at the NAG lan?

I had an absolute horrible experience with the parking. I didn't have any issues when I arrived Friday afternoon or left Friday night or came back in Saturday morning. The trouble started when I had to leave to go somewhere Saturday afternoon. I was stopped at the gate by an extremely rude man who demanded my parking pass. When I asked him what parking pass because I didn't know anything about, he started shouting at me.
I left and when I came back later that afternoon it got even worse. Again I got stopped by two idiots demanding a parking pass and when I tried to explain I was once again shouted at. I then told the guy look, shut up and let me try and explain and after I showed him both my bracelet thing and my ticket he still wouldn't let me in because according to him I bought my ticket at the main entrance and was trying to take a chance. After more arguing the jackass actually told me that my ticket has to be a fake because he'd been there all day and no girls were going to this thing and was just the last straw. I actually sweared at the guy (something that I only do if I'm really really really angry or upset which by then I was) and just drove past him and he couldn't stop me. I then decided to go and lay a complaint immediately and when I asked to speak to an organizer I was pointed to this guy so I went to tell him what had happened and how I was treated. He simply told me it was not the organizers of the lan's problem, it was a security thing. When I then asked him then why the people attending the lan weren't informed he just shrugged and again told me it wasn't their problem and to be honest as mad as I was by then that was just enough. So I attacked him on the issue and told him that their organization and communication was absolutely pathetic. I left it then but when we left on Sunday afternoon it got raised again. As I went through the security check to take my stuff out this woman stops me and tells me that if I do come again I shouldn't be rude to her staff and get a parking pass. I then informed her of how badly I was treated and how my concerns were just shrugged off by her stuff and the went off on me and pretty much told me that I shouldn't bother going again because people like me weren't welcome there (a bit harsh don't you think).
I raised the issue with the organizers but still haven't received as much as an apology :/
Would it really have been so hard to tell people as they arrived and got their security stickers and stuff that they need a parking pass if their car is parked in the designated lan area or to maybe even just put up a sign?

    Hi

I saw your e-mail in frags and I’ll try to reply as soon as my real world is back on track. As a quick clarification VC is not responsible for the parking. We do however have parking passes. It would seem that somehow you did not get a pass and things turned out less than perfect.

I find it sad that something that does not relate specifically to the gaming spoils your experience. With next years rAge looking to stir things up a bit, and lessons learnt being noted, I assure you that we will try and address the issue. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee every employed persons attitude.

As I said, I’ll reply to your mail soon.

Well I really hope you improve it next year and make the parking arrangements CLEAR. Oh and maybe some friendlier, more professional, staff?

Has anyone noticed how contradicting this whole issue is? Some people were treated horribly while others had no problems at all. Some were informed of the parking passes, others weren't. Odd, isn't it?
And still the organizers dn't want to admit that their was a problem, from their side at least...

Lifes a ***** , Get used to it. Why don't you stop ranting and raving for a second , take a page from your own book , and wait for a reply via e-mail and leave this very childish public ranting. You could have even called them , if you even bothered to check out the VC website.

Behaving like this here will not get you a faster apology , in the past 6 years people just like you have attacked the VC crew , and still they organize the LAN event brilliantly year after year , so if this is some kind of sabotage attempt , Its Failing.

Call them , or E-mail them again - Start taking your own advice and act more professional.

Successful help is not one sided.

Hold on there, get of your high horse. I just want to know why there are so many contradicting stories, why some people were treated perfectly fine others, well let's just say far far less then fine. My above post wasn't even aimed at the organizers, that's being sorted out without this. I just want to know if there are other people who were treated as badly as I was, if so there really is an issue they need to address isn't there?

Quite possibly it came down to a miscommunication resulting in general misunderstandings. **** happens. Move on with your life, really.

Way to go and chase people away. Ive never been to a rAge, but if this is the way people get treated who actualy pay for your services then i honestly would give a second thought at attending in the future. True they could be replaced by other people who wouldnt complain, but the whole point of this thread is to let it be known what people had issues with. So dont just tell people that their problems dont matter just because your experience was good. Something like that doesnt need to happen.

Thank You! The only reason why I brought it up is because if no1 says anything or raises the issue how are the organizers supposed to know there's a problem? And they cn't work on it or fix it if they dn't know about it.
If you had a good experience without any issues that's great but me, and others, did not and it does put you off and upset you and make you angry when something you looked forward to and enjoyed gets turned sour by stuff like that. Something that didn't even have to happen if the jerk at the gate had simply answered my question instead of shouted at me. I dn't want to go again and have another crappy experience and I dn't want anyone else to have a bad experience either.

@Scy7the - Ann has gone through all the necessary avenues to air her concerns. There is nothing more to do. It has been done. Perhaps this problem won't occur next year.

@Ann - perhaps you were just unlucky.
