No, just no.This is a really stupid idea valve.
Don't ****ing release just one classes new achievements.
Wait a while and do at least a few.
This is going to be so lame, medic wars for weeks.
Yes, I'm also going to play medic, but what did they expect???
I have never understood their reasoning behind this.

I find this good. Not enough people play medic lately anyway, this makes it a more desired class. After the initial achievement rush, there'll be more people willing to play medic, if their team needs one.

Lets hear what you say a week or two after it's release.

From what I understand, their reasoning for only releasing for one class, both new weapons and achievement wise, is essentially a slow push so they can see how the community reacts with that taste, and then modify, balance and adapt from there - instead of dropping new features for ALL classes - immediately completely changing the game for which they would have to attempt to balance and modify all at the same time.

I don't mind... it gives me time to adapt, understand, and get comfortable with the new gameplay elements that this will introduce - instead of drowning in a game that suddenly plays completely alien.

As for the medic wars... yeah, those are inevitable. However, judging by steam stats, not that many people have a lot of achievements, so it may not be as much of a problem that this initially portrays.

Fail for not reading the interview:

Shack: Does the staggered release have anything to do with the issue of balancing?

Robin Walker: The staggered release is more actually--that's how fast we can get things done. This [first release] needed a lot of work in the backend. We have persistent data storage on the Steam backend now for what items you've unlocked--your weapon inventory is going to show up on your Steam profile, all that kind of stuff. So there was a lot of backend work for this that we're not going to have to do as we go forward, so we envision the next ones being done a lot faster than this.

I think some of the achievements are a bit too hard, these ones:

Big Pharma: Assist a heavy in killing thirty enemies where neither of you die
You'll Feel a Little Prick: Assist in killing four enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Scout
Blunt Trauma: Assist in punching out for enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Heavy
Medical Breakthrough: Assist in destroying eight enemy Engineer buildings with a single Ubercharge on a Demoman
Chief of Staff: Accumulate ten million total health points

Killing 4 enemies in a 10 seconds time period is going to be almost impossible for a scout. You'll need to crit scattergun and then start wacking away with a bat.
Same with a big slow lumbering heavy, the only place enemies would stand still enough to be punched would be in all the chaos while defending/attacking a control point.
Also destroying eight enemy buildings, that's would be like 3 sentries, 3 dispensers and 2 teleporters, all in close proximity. That will require some fancy sticky work to pull off.

They're not called achievements for nothing. :/

Chief of Staff: Accumulate ten million total health points
Not difficult, it will simply take a long time.

The scout one won't be so hard if it counts while using the critical ubercharge instead of the invuln ubercharge.

The demoman one won't be so bad if the enemy team is eng-heavy.

30 assists on a heavy is easy. Assist Dislekcia on Dustbowl 3 and make sure someone's built a dispenser near him. Piece of cake.

10 million points is going to take a while though.

I like that some of them are difficult. 1.) Gonna be a long term challenge (be good for us). 2.) Means that when other classes have their update, people will have to pick a class to specialise in. Won't just have EVERYTHING of EVERYTHING. 3.) And c'mon guys seriously, what is the point of an ACHIEVEMENT, if it's easy...worthless.

    Mwahahaha ;)

They're going to be tough to get, but you'll only need all of them for the ubersaw - which everyone wants, but only the real hardcore medics will end up having.

Truth, the achievements themself don't really bother me, but as soon as I go to my steam page and see that there is something missing it irritates the living hell out of me. It's like a gap that needs to be filled, so much so that I made my friend walk into my turret 10 times(dang idiots destroying it when I have 7 or 8). :P

They need to make the ubersaw translucent and glowy and a bit spiky, maybe something like this:

    Big Pharma fine
    Little prick hard, but managable
    Breakthrough easy enough.
Cheif of staff I can do overtime.
    BLUNT TRAUMA!!!!!!!!!!!! No frikken way.

    Luckily I have a solution :p

BTW= Do you guys think that if you have already done the achievemnt before the release it will be added on?

Ie: will Chief start only after the release or will it include the current count.
Or if you already have say 9000 points for top healing doyou get the specialst or will you have to do it again?

And finally what is the heal point per sec on the medigun? Just so I can work out how many hours it will take to get cheif of staff?

"Chief of Staff: Accumulate ten million total health points"

Isn't this the health you /regenerate/ and /acquire/ through medics, medpacks and dispensers? Not, in fact, the amount you heal?
