    Actually, 35" = 88.9CM. 33.5 = 85CM, 36" = 91.44CM.

For interest sake, I found the following bit somewhere:
One thing is certain: The average American waistline is expanding. In fact, it has never been bigger. Federal health surveys show that over the past four decades, the mean waist size for men has grown from 35 inches to 39 inches; for women, from 30 inches to 37 inches. The National Institutes of Health recommends that men with waists measuring 37 inches or greater and women with waists larger than 31.5 inches modify their lifestyles to reduce their waists and resulting health risks. Nearly 39 percent of men and 60 percent of women are carrying too much belly fat.
And these are the mean averages. 0_o

Owow. Those statistics are horrifying. Good news for heart surgeons. They'll have their work cut out for them.

I thought it was a rather rotund pun, to be honest. :P

Well if my general knowledge is correct, the Japanese lifestyle traditionally, unless you have a generic problem, generally makes sure you don't put on weight. I think this is mainly due to the fact that they have almost no red meat in their diet.

The modern lifestyle though consists a lot of McDonalds. Yes people, that is our dear friend Ronald. The Japanese have fallen in love with the stupid Western society ways.

Disclaimer: Please note that if anybody has anything to the contrary, I do stand corrected.

I was going to say the exact same thing. The Japenese lifestyle and eating habits are condusive to being slim and "healthy'. My brother lived in Japan for 3 years, when he left here he weight just under 110kg and when he returned he was just under 75kg.

The only thing he changed was the type of food he ate. The Japanese take extreme pride in their food, infact it is almost an art.

Therefore you generally are not putting junk into your body
