Thread: SA's Got Talent

    Default SA's Got Talent

I don't know how many of you actually caught this while it was doing the rounds (briefly) but the winner was decided last night. I saw the auditions but missed the finals. Funnily enough, my favourite from the auditions walked away with first place and a quarter of a million rand.

Here's a clip of his semi final routine (couldn't find the finals one).

Also, just so you know, he's deaf.

I followed SA's got talent from the beginning, then skipped a week or two due to most of the really bad acts and then caught up in the semi finals on Monday. I haven't missed it since and watched the finals last night.

I kinda miss it tonight, and kudos to the winner, he deserved it!

I don't think he really deserved it, he was ok but it wasn't something spectacular in my opinion. I think it was more out of sympathy that they voted for him, that may be a bit harsh but it is again imo not that hard to watch tv from a young age and learn to do what he does even if you are deaf. Would have liked to see the guys win.

Who, exactly, would you have liked to see win? Out of all the contestants, I think he performed the best. Many contestants were very talented but didn't put on a show, as such. This guy entertained and that was part of the reason he won.

I was, overall, very impressed with the talent that was seen on this show. I don't know why they didn't have the show run for longer, with more opportunity for the viewers to vote. The judges originally let 152 people through the auditions and then simply cut that number down to 21. They made their decisions based on what represented SA and I think that didn't do the viewers a service because we didn't even get to see all the good acts.

I hope they run this program again next year :)

Very impressive. On the subject of Got Talent, for those who haven't seen it yet, here is Ukraine's Kseniya Simonova

I think the guy with the guitar should have won, I wasn't entertained by the deaf guy, yes he has some moves, but to win the show for it, not what I would have done. The guy with the guitar put on a much better show the way he handled that thing.

I agree that the show should have run for longer and givin the contestants more time to refine their acts, an idols methodology would have sufficed. I also hope it is back next year, quite enjoyed it.

I've seen all his guitars. It is ridiculous how much he has for an 18-year old! But if you are that good, you deserve it.

I wanted Louwtjie to win (guitar guy), simply because his talent is the toughest to replicate!

But it not an "SA's got entertainers" show, it's an "SA's got talent" show.

    The guitarist should've won.

That Kalon kid wasn't too bad either, was he? (He was the 11-year old kid that danced)

    He had spunk :p

There's this guy my dad occasionally works with, and I always thought he was totally awesome because his name is Loki. Until I found out it's Louwtjie.

    He isn't totally awesome anymore.

And that's probably why he won. In fact, I am 100% sure that if this wasn't the case, he wouldn't even have made it to the finals.

Similarly, I think that girl, Connie, from Britain's Got Talent also only got as far as she did in that show because she was cute, not because she could sing particularly well. At least the guy who deserved to win did in that case, though.

Exactly. It was a pity vote, and condescending at that. Fact is, he was really just a dancer, and not an especially amazing one at that. :/

The guitarist, on the other hand, was quite phenomenal.

I think that Darren (the deaf guy) deserved to win. Sure, Louwtjie was brilliant, but he wasn't even in one the top three positions. And I don't think his final performance was as good as his previous ones.
At the end of the day, the winner was the person who managed to capture the voters' attention the most, and Louwtjie was not that person.
