well I you have a car i would be the best way to go, driving down and back should not be more then R1,200 depending on how you drive and what car you drive.
You can load at least 3 pple in the car and their PC's yet again depending on what car you drive.
On average a round trip for that weekend costs R3000 for 3 people witch is a saving of about 50%
^ Yes, it will cost you about R1000 from Durbs to Joburg and back, if you've got a Golf 4 1.6, unless you're driving like a maniac. So if you've got a car that can take 4 people + pc's it's not that bad. There's a City Lodge or Road Lodge in Randburg very close to the Dome that will cost you about R220 per person per night, that is if you're sharing a room with a buddy. So it will work out roughly R700 per person for the whole weekend. This EXCLUDES your food and drinks and obviously your rAge ticket.

Is plugs with flattened earth pins the only plugs that will work at the LAN, or can you use regular plugs as well?
PS Will I be cursed at if I wash the sweat from my armpits at the basin? Or just be frowned upon?

Haha, I also have my leave set for that weekend, I made it know from last year that I would be off at the same time of year again.
Nope only plugs with the flattened earth pin will work (they change all the sockets, which
considering power usage and eskom, is a good thing imo)
As far as washing in the basins go, you would simply be just another person doing it :p

when you hold that Epic rAge ticket in your hands and it finally sinks in that you going to rAge the time flies like never b4, Nxt thing you now its 5 o'clock and you are standing in line at the entrance with a Mc Donalds coffee waiting for them to open the gates so you can inch closer to the doors.
That was my first experience @ rAge 2005 I have been going there ever since and it was gr8 fun.
So what was your guys first rAge like.
You are able to buy them at the testing stations, it has been like that for the past couple of years but havnt heard if it will be available this year. this is normally a last resort, I have seen so pretty weird looking self modified plugs.
If possible can one of the staff members verify if they will be selling the flattened power plugs this year.
Since your power cord needs to have a red plug with the flattened earth pin when you arrive at the testing station at registration, we would suggest that you purchase yours before you get to the LAN, to avoid delays and problems. The current cost for the red dedicated plug is around R160 I think and they can be purchased at any major hardware store. So don't count on buying one when you get to the LAN.
BT Games sell those plugs as well. I got one there with one plug and two wires running from the plug, so you can connect your pc and your screen with one plug, depending on your setup. I can't remember how much it was though.
Ok thanks, I'll try to buy one of them at BT Games this weekend. When I go shopping for a extra 500GB hard drive to leach with!
See you at rAge!!!
Hi Guys!
Looking forward to Rage and the NAG Lan this year!
I've been looking for the info, but cannot seem to find it - is there any restriction of screen size? Somewhere somebody posted 22'' but nothing official that I can find.
Any official screen limitations?
there might be a limit for the screen size due to the fact that we have a limited energy supply, and bigger screens sap more energy. I havnt seen any official restrictions but it might become a reality due to the fact that we are 2020 and not 1800 users and we might be pushing the limits of the power source
Eish... Well, hopefully 26'' to 27'' would not be a problem.
On a second topic, where do you guys prefer to sit - upstairs or downstairs? And what is the major difference between the two ( .... apart from the obvious :) )
I've asked for a quote on the "flattened earth plug" that you need at the NAG LAN. This is the quote I got. Does that look like the right thing? It's cheaper than I expected or is it the wrong plug?
