Mortal Kombat Demo coming to PSN and XBL:

Playstation.blog is reporting that a demo for the upcoming Mortal Kombat will be available to subscribers of Playstation Plus on Tuesday March 8, 2011. It will be available for all PS3 users via the PSN store one week later on March 15.

The demo includes four playable characters: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage and Mileena. The characters will be equipped with their complete arsenal from what we can tell. Classic arenas The Living Forest and The Pit will be available as stages. Modes available will be limited to single player and one-on-one versus modes. The recently unveiled Challenge Tower mode will not be part of this demo [full story] nor will the Story Mode. The PS3's exclusive 3D support will also be included.

XBL users will receive a similar demo "soon", though an official date has not been set. It's also currently unknown if these demos will have support for online play. Stay tuned to this story as more information surfaces!

Haha. Nah man, it's only shown for a few seconds on the video. When JCVD does the "Death Touch" on the stack of bricks, he doesn't break the brick at the top. He breaks the one at the bottom. When Johnny Cage breaks the bricks on the bonus stage, he also breaks the brick near the bottom. I thought it was really cool of them to include that, seeing as Cage's character is based on JCVD's character from Bloodsport. :P

A new interview with Ed Boon has been released. He talks about what players can expect from the new game; mechanics, unlockable characters, hidden fights..etc. Baraka and Kano are shown. Kano's intro is really cool, and his X-ray move and Fatality (Heart Rip) look absolutely brutal. Boon also talks about the difficulty of 300th Challenge in the CT mode and says that a great prize awaits the player upon completion. At this point, the final roster is almost complete. The Street and Rooftop stages from MK3 also makes a return.

BUT before we get too excited, did anyone see that trailer of the new Mortal Kombat movie thats supposed to be released in 2012, i have some mixed feelings about the trailer and the direction the movie seems to be going in!!! wasnt the whole point of MK about fantasy and fireballs and "freezeballs" lol... this movie just seems a bit too close to reality for my liking (if its legit that is)...your views??

It's actually being turned into webisodes. :P Though, Warner Bros have stated that if the episodes are successful, they will think about releasing a full movie. A lot of the actors that were portrayed in the short, have been confirmed for the series. I've seen some production pics and they look pretty cool. Like the new game, MK:Rebirth is seen as an alternate reality of the MK universe. I am looking forward to it.

Judging by those videos, the fighting system could use some tweaking, imo. That Scorpion combo, especially, looks overpowered. NetherRealms should add limiters on certain moves, to help balance the damage on the game. I know the Breaker system plays a part in that, but it still seems a bit unbalanced. As for The Kombat Kontinues Teaser: OMG. \0/

Had an extremely brief toil with the demo just now... It feels awesome! Now I haven't played a fighter in a year so I felt a little detached and the controls felt clunky, at first, but within minutes I was combo-ing up a storm... I even managed to pull off Mileena's Fatality (yay me). That was in the third round of the four I played and this game does give you a feeling that there is depth to the system. It is Mortal Kombat II on steroids with a face-lift. Nostalgia for the win!
