Micheal J hardy has been known to reverse engineer freeware and opensource software.
He sell's them online and uses many fake identities, thousands of website's.

I recently found out about him on GMC "game maker forums" and by doing some research found many conversations involving him stealing and selling gpl and freeware products.

There are lists and list of stuff he stole!
He even sold a game made with Doom legacy! ID software was unable to catch him.
