Does anyone have an opinion on the HTC Desire HD...and is the android version of mxit any good? Any help would be appreciated! And also the Wildfire is entry level right? How does it perform?

1) HTC Desire HD is a bit big IMO. I have the desire and its already pretty large.
2)Android version of mxit isn't bad, it does what it needs to do and I haven't had any issues with it.
3)Wildfire is entry level yes - haven't heard good things about it.
If you want a good entry level android phone get the LG Optimus.
CES 2011 was an occasion for manufacturers to flood the market with a plethora of Android devices, and powering many of them was NVidia’s Tegra 2 chip.
Released late last year, the Tegra 2 chip uses the "system-on-a-chip" design to integrate an ARM CPU (1GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor) and a NVidia GPU into one package. This allows faster communication between the cores and the integrated memory controller. Most of the tablets and smartphones, and other unique hybrids, launching in 2011 will be using the Tegra 2 chips.
But, no sooner has the dust settled and NVidia is already planning for the future. A leaked slide from NVidia reveals that the Tegra 2 will soon be replaced by the Tegra 2 3D, which will subsequently be usurped by the "world’s first mobile quad-core processor," the Tegra 3.
All i can say is.. **** YEAH!!!

I was supposed to upgrade december, but I decided to wait seeing as the Wildfire is the only android in my price range. I've waited 2 months... and the Desire has gone up R500 in price...
I'm going to have to get a Wildfire ;_;
Dude, don't settle for the Wildfire!
I signed a contract almost a year ago and got the HTC Tattoo. Although it was only a few months since it was released in SA it was already available for about a year in other parts of the world. This means that by the time I can upgrade again (March 2012) my phone would technically be 3 years old already...
If I were you, I would rather save a few extra bucks and then pay for something more recent, with better specs. The Wildfire is already falling behind when compared to other phones, in fact it is only slightly better than my Tattoo.
I'm sure if you can scrape together about R1000 you could get something a lot better.
Have a look at your options again and let us know...
What about the LG Optimus One P500?
Well I dropped my phone in a big bucket of water the other day. I tried ordering an HTC Desire HD, but no stock. :(

Go to "operating system" select "android".
Yeah, I've done that. It returns a million phones and most aren't available in South Africa. :<
Motorola Defy Specs
Topup package (Virgin Mobile)
Classic Contract package (Virgin Mobile)
It's called the MB525 in South Africa. Maybe that's why you couldn't find it. It's the same price as the HTC Wildfire on the Classic package (R170 pm).
