Things to know for rAge 2010

Fair enough. Unfortunately, rules have to be put into place for various reasons. The most important reasons for us being firstly to try to ensure as far as possible that everybody has the best possible time within those dreaded limits. Secondly, to try and ensure that everything is safe.

If you have ever had the opportunity to try to host a small LAN at your house, you might have hit a couple of snags. Our problem is that we need to anticipate 2000+ users from various backgrounds, different machines and having different levels of knowledge regarding computer related issues as well as social interaction if you want to be thorough. Rules and a lot of planning are our only means of ensuring the best possible chance of attaining our goal. Thus we do not see the possibility of relaxing anytime soon.

Do however feel free to pm me with your specific gripes. We try to be open to reasonable dialogue.

The Parking Issue:

This is the formal reply and in line with the planning for rAge. As you can obviously attest to computicket did not issue the required parking tickets. So, what will happen is that all gamers will arrive on Friday – they will need to show a valid computicket ticket to the guards at the parking entrance to gain access – the guard will then write the car registration onto a parking voucher (which the guard will have) and give it to the gamer. This voucher will be valid for that car registration only for the duration of the weekend.

The folowing is very important. Do not leave the guard without getting your ticket back. Do not damage your ticket (remove part of it). Keep your parking pass safe because we will take your computicket upon entry to the LAN. Please note that the parking pass is only valid for the registration written on it. Also keep in mind that since we take your computicket, you will need to park before proceeding to register at the LAN.

My system uses two power supplies one fir most of the system and one speciality graphics power supply only using 200 watt is this allowed?

Unfortunately not. I have to assume that your main power supply is too small and for that reason the additional supply. I suggest that you consider looking for a bigger PSU. Should you wish to discuss this further, please pm me.

This will be my first rage lan i am attending..
What games can i expect to be playing there?
i know it sounds stupid.. but i'd like to be prepaired..
Also i fear having to bring a whole bag of original discs to run my games, should i be?

Nothing that I am aware of within the LAN.

I have the software that we will use to control internet access. I have not yet installed Starcraft and subsequently tested it. We are testing the network on Friday, and if all goes well I should have time to test SCII this weekend. Time has however not been too friendly lately. Thus hopefully by Monday I should have a definite answer, although I already indicated that the expectation should be not possible.

We do not have anybody to pair you with. Sorry. From what games, basically the games that you play. DOTA, COD, SCII, CS, BF would be the most common.

I My system is made up of 2 parts.
My case and screen with only windows and a similar sized case that holds all my drives it uses the same 3 point plug and goes dirrectly into a secondary dedicated lan port i have. will this be allowed?

Just think this time next month we will be lanning at Rage. As with the above question from DevilKIN I think it would be best if your 'drives' are actually inside your machine (just to be on the safe side).

What I read from this is that you have built a secondary PC as a server with all your HDD so that you may enjoy playing games while your server crunches away copying stuff. I would have to assume that you remote desktop to the machine.

Assuming that this is correct the answer would have to be no, unless you have two tickets for the second machine.

Should I be wrong on the assumption I would still need to say no and advise you to install the drives you need on your main machine. Should you feel the need to further discuss the issue feel free to argue your case via pm.

Hi guys, what is the cutt off time that Pcs are allowed into the event, as i might be a lil late and do not know of any of my friends that are attending rAge this year, so do not want too fly all the way from George in the Western Cape only too be told that i missed the cutt of time etc.

So could anybody enlighten me about this , would be greatly appreciated, cause i might only be able to get there at like 7:30pm on Friday if i cannot get a earlier flight.
