Yeah, sorry. I got mixed up with Pinball FX and FX2. Either way, I'm gonna download it and Super Meat boy this weekend \o/
Hmm I have 3 months live subscription now and I don't know which account to use it on. I have an SA account and a US one. Will it affect my ability to join games? E.g will I only see games from the US if I'm playing on US live? And what advantages does gold give in terms of marketplace? Since the SA marketplace is useless and empty, should I rather activate the US account?
One question....
Can i use Xbox live to place my account on multiple Xbox's?
Eg. Like i have an Xbox at home, join xbox live etc then go a a mates place and log in to xbox live and put my gamer tag thingy on his console as well?
Similar to SC2... where the game can be installed as many times as you like... and you can log on with any account and your achievements you get will go onto that account.
Thats would be a seller for me...
Yes.
You can only ever have one valid instance of your Xbox LIVE Gamertag, though. If it's saved to your own console's HDD, for example, and you go over to a friend's place, and use the "Recover Gamertag" option to download a new copy of the Gamertag from XBL to their console, the version on your console becomes invalidated.
But if you keep your Gamertag profile saved on a flash disk, for example (as I do), you can move that around and plug it into any console, and play with it as you usually would on your own. A nice feature of this is that you can download XBLA titles you might have purchased on your own console to your friend's console - or bring these over on a flash disk - and for as long as your profile remains present, you can both play these.
I'm totally female. And stuff.
Also, yeah - a recent Xbox system update included support for regular flash drives, up to 16 GB in size.
By invalidated, I mean that the most recent version of your Gamertag will be the only valid one. It's kinda tricky to explain if you've never used an Xbox, but here's a hypothetical scenario:
1. You have your Gamertag profile saved on your own Xbox HDD.
2. You go over to a friend's place without taking your profile, and use the "Recover Gamertag" option from the Xbox dashboard to download your Gamertag from Xbox LIVE.
3. The version on your own Xbox HDD is now invalid. You'll have to download it from Xbox LIVE again, or transfer it from your friend's console on a flash drive.
4. Save yourself all the effort of steps 2 and 3, and keep your Gamertag on a flash drive. :P
Slightly on topic...
If you wanted to get a bigger HDD for your XBOX, would you be able to copy EVERYTHING on the HDD, expecially the gamertags and saves (or are those moved with the gamertag?) onto a flash disk, then onto the new HDD?
I am just wondering, because now that I am connected to live, more space for when there are actually games in marketplace would be nice.
Lol?
There's a topic? :P
Err, the "gamertag" is just a single file, stored in the "Profiles" folder of your hard drive / memory unit. Saved games are in a whole other folder and are usually stored together with DLC which sometimes makes it irritating when you want to move stuff off.
So far as I know there isn't a way to transfer everything on an existing drive to another, but you could always just use a flash and go back and forth (while using the "Transfer Content" feature). Yeah it'll take a while, but it will work.
Yeah... him having a limb wrist and all :)
Back to the topic now
Why dont you get the transfer cable?
I dont have an Xbox yet but cant you attach an external HDD and transfer to that? I dont know how the new Xbox connects to the HDD...
and the gamertag... do i need to move this around with the downloaded content as well? of example if i bought Castle Crashers... would that need to be on my HDD with the gamertag in order to play it?
@Azimuth - Would you recommend me buying a USB just to hold my gamertag? Or place it in a dedicated folder on my External HDD [that is provided that the new Xbox and the previous model are able to interface with an external HDD]
Does that mean that if it get deleted you messed?
Don't bother with the transfer cable, it's a waste of money.
Just use a flash disk. There's a very convenient mass transfer function built into the memory management settings, that lists all the content saved on your HDD, and lets you select/unselect items, or just move everything over in one heap.
Well, I keep my profile on a flash disk because a bunch of my friends have Xboxes, and my Gamertag's a total slut. I sometimes copy games or DLC to the flash disk too, if I want to take it over to someone else's place. But yeah, I'd recommend using a flash disk if you want your profile to be portable.
Not necessarily. If you always sign into Xbox LIVE when you switch on your Xbox, then XBL keeps a current record of it. If your local profile gets ****ed somehow, you can recover it from XBL.Does that mean that if it get deleted you messed?

Having some major problems with my connection. Maybe someone can help?
I played on Live yesterday. Everything worked perfectly (Still on UK acc).
Got home today and connected my Xbox to my laptop and the Xbox won't connect. The Laptop picks up the network, but the Xbox tells me it can't obtain an IP from my router (being the laptop). The "Test connection" option doesn't even get far enough to test internet connection, it fails at connecting to PC.
I did a "Test PC Connection" and it's the same thing. It's odd because it worked fine yesterday and I haven't changed squat.
I've googled around and tried resetting my UPnP Device host, turning my firewall off and some other useless crap I can't recall right now because I'm partly baked. Tried to ping my Xbox and it's not picking it up either.
Any help would be appreciated. I just want to shoot Russians.
EDIT: Halle-friggin'-llujah, it make worky now.
If anybody has a similar problem. Open up Run > services.msc > Windows Media Player Network Sharing Device > Restart.
Solved my problems and now I get to shoot Russians.
