Thread: HOW ARE YOU GETTING TOO RAGE 2010 THIS YEAR?

Default HOW ARE YOU GETTING TOO RAGE 2010 THIS YEAR?

Well now that all the tickets are sold out and rAge is upon us in less that two months all the preperation can commence for what we shall be taking with us for this awesome event, but most importantly how are we going too be getting ourselves and our pc there.

Like most years i and many others take the long trip from out place off resident too the coca cola dome in JHB. For many its a simple hour or two or three for some but others living in the Eastern and Western cape its alot longer than that.

The options are fairly straight forward:

    Drive down
Fly down, and get a taxi from airport
Get a Taxi from your house
    Get a bus

Now for myself living in the Western Cape i thought this year would be the year i fly down, i have heard numerous reports and good quality service at our airports and too think how well they did over the world cup period this made me decide on this method of transport.

So the big question is, "How are you getting too rAge this year and from where are you travelling from?"

I live 30-odd minuutes from the dome, so no issues there. Will probably go home for a powernap on Saturday again.
But my best mate is coming up from New Castle on his own steam and will join me on me at my house.

I live literally 300 meters from the Dome. I actually live in the same street, so for me, i just walk 5 minutes home for a shower with the wife, and I'm good for another marathon. :D

I live in Pretoria. Last year it took us about a hour to get to the expo. So this year I'll try to be on the road at 8 and be there at 9. Simple yet effective

    Did you tri this road:
    Newcastle> Volksrust> Standardton> Balfour> Heidelberg> The Dome

Its alot better then the road you want to travel TBH unless u picking a friend up along the way the distance is more or less the same a lot less damaging potholes.

Anyway I will be cruising from Heidelberg at about 4 O'clock and setup camp at the LAN entrance and have the normal Rage breakfast with my friends that are already there is been tradition for us the past 5 years

Well i just checked some flights from Western Cape area too JHB airport, going too cost me around R1900 return flight, guess i better start saving cause taxis from the airport are going too be damn expensive.

Quick question around how far is it in Killometres from OR Tambo international to The Dome ? ive never flown from western cape before always driven, just for reference for taxi fares etc? k thnx

Mizer, you're probably better off hiring a car for the weekend. Presuming you're old enough to drive etc.

Well im 23 so yeah i am well capable of driving, but hiring a car for the weekend will cost way more espcially if you take into account petrol etc, i think flying will be a much quick mode of transport considering its like a 14 hour journey from Cape Town area if you drive, also im going by myself cause friends thought tickets would be on sale for a while but low and behold all sold out.

Well just did some reading up and it says that the airport is around 35 km from the Coca Cola dome so thats not too bad i guess, now just have too consider how much taxi fares are now days x distance travelled.

But hopefully nearer too the time a decision might be made as i missed last years rAge due too transport issues so im not missing this one even if i have too sit on the greyhound for 15 hours lol.

Hiring a car at the airport will be far cheaper than catching a taxi, i'm pretty sure.

It all depends on who you go through as many companies charge different prices for different category of car. Plus you will need a credit card also when you book and collect the car from most reputable car rental agencies.

Luckily I live about a hour and a half away and have my own car and don't need to hire one.
