I will post this which I found on another forum a while back.

The movie starts and is looking fabulous. Two skyscrapers are having a war and it's ace. Then, emerging from smoky silhouette, comes a wobbling plastic bobsleigh. Astride it is Sylvester Stallone with a bucket on his head . Dismounting from his trundling spaz-chariot, he strides commandingly into the centre of the shot. He's a short, beergutted shank of beef in skintight black lycra. The harsh glare of the studio lights glint on his huge, glittering silver codpiece. Setting his jaw fearsomely, one side of his mouth flaps wetly open like an excited vulva: "nUhyaaaahhm . . . NA LOOOOH!" The movie is killed stone dead.

People are still sniggering twenty minutes intothe film and thus miss other great moments like the spectacularly stupid concept of a gun sucking DNA out of the owners hands through his armoured gauntlets, the line "he genetically mutated into the perfect criminal" and the laboratory of the evil mastermind that explodes for no other reason than because that's what evil laboratories do in films.

The first Judge Dredd movie was terrible. Really guys, I think you lot just had the goggles of adolescence on or something.

Pretty, much this. My raging erection for Stallone may also have something to do with it.

I'm with Echo, no such thing as a bad Stallone movie - except when it's so bad, it's good. :P

I'm suddenly convinced we all watched a different movie.

Secondly, I said it previously and ill say it again, I don't understand why people hated Judge Dredd. I watched it again relatively recently (+- a year ago) and I still thought it was quite fun. Maybe its because I never read the comics and because (I'm probably going to get hanged for this) I love Stallone's acting. He isn't a great actor per se, but he is fun and entertaining. The same as I could never imagine anyone else but Arnie saying "I'll be back", I could never imagine someone else saying "I am DA LAW!".

I do however love Karl Urban, and if anyone can pull a remake off, it will be him. Cross fingers!

For us it was a case of being rather well acquainted with the comics (thus, in a way, fanboys), so it would always have been a tough sell. To a large extend it felt like Hollywood was not giving the source material the gravitas it should've received (Rob Schneider as comic relief, Stallone taking off the helmet, for instance).

For a large part, it just did not feel like the movie got the "tone" right.

He exclaimed. In an Adrian voice. Vulva lips flapping, profusely.

You're right of course. Still, despite its silliness and cheese, I enjoyed the Judge Dredd movie. I thought it was fun and entertaining. Not the best movie, mind you, but still watchable. Also, the fact that, just like Echo and Gamm, I'm a huge Stallone fan also played a part. But yeah, lets hope the new movie is better than the original.

I don't know... Sounds awfully lot like the Raid with Dredd. And it looks kinda cheap too.

Looks like your video was removed, here is another one.

I dunno, it looks pretty good to me. Doesn't look FANTASTIC, but it seems pretty average, and average is good enough for me.

Doesn't look bad. The lawgiver (I think that was its name) looks tiny though......

So this is playing apparently in SA at the moment. Are none of you guys gonna go watch? I heard that it's pretty damn awesome.

    Never knew this existed.

As for the original Judge Dredd movie, I liked it, but I'll say I liked it in the same way as I liked other 90's action movies like Demolition Man and Last Action Hero. Also, back in the day -the problem was "Dredd" took his helmet off, not his damn voice.

They don't make "fun" movies like those anymore.

Sue me, but I also find that animatronic robot from the old movie more realistic than modern CGI/3D.

Utterly fantastic movie. Far, far better then the 1995 version. I highly recommend that everyone goes and sees this.

    +1

Colour me impressed. The movie was a ton of fun to watch and was so well made. The worst part about it was the fact that it ended.

I seriously want an essay from every comic book fan why they haven't seen this yet. It isn't just a good comic book movie, but a bloody good film on it's own. The soundtrack is magical and the 3D actually useful. But it's bombing so bad.

    Go see this now!

It's bombing because there's next to no distribution, no marketing, no publicity. At least not in regards to the big blockbusters. People are saying that they watched it in half-empty theaters and the only reason they were even there was because they actively looked for the movie. No one seems to know it's even playing. And then you get the idiots who still associate it with that Stallone movie and immediately dismiss it as "a sequel to a crappy movie". Depressing.
