Deletion Blunders

Ever made a blunder while moving your files/movies/music/porn so bad, that you could face-palm your head clean off your neck?

For example, after unwrapping and plugging in a new external hard drive, I started moving a few files onto it.

Not satisfied, I cleaned up the new folders only to discover that I've permanently deleted my vast collection of Angry Video Game Nerd and BBC Series episodes.

Share some horror stories guys.

I formatted the wrong drive. There is a long story as to why, but yeah it was a really retarded accident. I did however recover some of it.

1993. I was 13. This was before Win 95, obviously. I didn't even have Win 3.1.

I just got my first computer, a 486. I wanted to clean stuff up in the root of C, where I had accidentally unzipped a bunch of files to. So I moved everything into a folder, and for some reason, don't remember why, had to reboot.

COMMAND.COM NOT FOUND

Boy, did I figure out how DOS worked really, really fast. Like, in two hours before dad gets home fast.

But I'm glad it happened. It paved the way for learning about Conventional Memory, loadhigh, QEMM and tailored startup menus for running games optimally.

I remember when I was like 5 or 6, I somehow managed to delete the entire C drive and my mother banned me from using the computer for like 6 months. Then there was also the time when I deleted my brother's PS1 memory card, he wasn't very happy, I deleted a crapload of the progress he had made on Gran Turismo.

The worst I did, was downloaded some files (wallpapers, skins updates freeware and such) from the internet, burned them to disc, deleted the downloaded files from the works pc, only to come home insert the disc and find out the disc isn't usable

I still remember the accident format of '07, twas a horrible day. Since then I keep backups of all essential files on my external.

I was working in Mozambique on a contract with Chevron (Not this Chevron, the company). I was sitting in my room pretty damn baked one night and playing Oblivion. I was getting random crashes in game and decided to do a format, since every patch/fix I tried didn't seem to work.

Backed up all my music
Backed up all my games/savegames
Backed up all my photos/pictures

Formatted the drive and reinstalled. Oblivion worked perfectly! So stoked!

Get to work the next morning and realized I didn't back up my work. A year and a half's worth of work gone and I wasn't able to recover it. Boy, was I ****ed at myself.

Back in about 2000 I wanted to clear up some space on my PC. It had 2 hdds so I moved all the stuff I wanted to the 1 hdd, and planned on reformatting the other. I got the drive letters mixed up, and well, fail.

In about 2003 I was using my PS2, and put my memory card in after I had already started a game. I tried to save, got some corruption error. The save file was stuffed up and had to restart the game.

I record a bunch of music videos from VH1 and MTV. Rare videos that only come up once every two months. I then play them through the hi-fi. I accidentally some of my videos after watching them.

Hmm, back in the day I used to write a lot in Word documents (I used Evernote now ;) ) and I wrote about 5 pages worth of a story. Realising it was getting late I pressed the 'X' button and it duly asked if I wanted to save my changes.

Call it supernatural forces or tiredness, I distinctly remember hovering over the button and clicking 'No' >_<
