I came across this concept in a science fiction book several years ago, it could have been a Charles Stross book, not 100% sure.
I love the idea of living in such an environment. I don't know what I'm doing in the past (now) ;)
(Charles Stross is a full-time writer who was born in Leeds, England in 1964. He studied in London and Bradford, gaining degrees in pharmacy and computer science, and has worked in a variety of jobs, including pharmacist, technical author, software engineer, and freelance journalist.)
Amazing video! Can you imagine what an e-bomb would look like O_o
Although I must say that Stross' AR imaginings are astoundingly detailed, from both an individual user and societal ramification perspective.
Halting State shows what the near future with solid AR might feel like, the continuations of Accelerando (Glasshouse in particular) show what a society totally built on AR systems might be like to live in.
@Wrathex: If you like Stross, I suggest Cory Doctorow (Makers and Down And Out In The Magic Kingdom in particular) and Richard Morgan's Altered Carbon (followed by the rest of the Kovacs novels).
I think the way dataspace is portayed in the anime Dennou Coil is also quite a trip - though the one thing most people have wrong, I feel, when it comes to portrayal of AR dataspace, is they all use overwrought interfaces. I think the future will be more minimalist, and far more abstracted to each individual's tastes and how they naturally interface with the AR.
