Unnofficial tournaments

We've had a few requests regarding this. Here's how it works: You're permitted to run any unofficial tournaments for any games you want, provided you stick to a couple of rules:

1) You may charge entry fees for your comps, but you must put all entry fees into a pot to be given away as prizes. You may not take profit from any unofficial tournament that is run at the NAG LAN @ rAge.
2) Should you secure sponsorhip for prizes/hardware/etc, you may to wear or give away branded T-shirts, but no banners or any other form of advertising of that sponsor is permitted. Be sure to let any prospective sponsors know of these restrictions before you chat to them!

I also recommend that you make contact with other official or unofficial tournament owners to work out a schedule and ensure that you don't clash. In particular, we have two people who want to run a DotA competition; I'm not sure if you guys know each other or not, but either way I suggest that you keep your eyes open.

If you want to run a tournament, all you need to do is create a new thread in this rAge forum with your rules and other details. If you can't create a thread, please PM me.

Were you getting tired of me PMing you?

In particular, we have two people who want to run a DotA competition; I'm not sure if you guys know each other or not, but either way I suggest that you keep your eyes open.

I had no idea there was someone else could that person please contact me mabey we can work something awesome out.

Not at all. I'm just trying to create awareness that it's possible for people to host their own tournaments, and how to go about doing so. It makes sense to address this issue publically so there's no confusion or repetition.

Just another query, would there be a specific place where the competitors can come and register for the tournaments

I recommend that you take registrations online through email, then perhaps share your cell phone number with competitors so they can find you at the event.
