Thread: Medal of Honor 2010

    Default Medal of Honor 2010

Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators.

Over 2 million Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines wear the uniform. Of those, approximately 50 thousand fall under the direct control of the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a plane of existence above and beyond even the most highly trained Special Operations Forces. Their exact numbers, while classified, hover in the low hundreds. They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence. The new Medal of Honor is inspired by and has been developed with Tier 1 Operators from this elite community. Players will step into the boots of these warriors and apply their unique skill sets to a new enemy in the most unforgiving and hostile battlefield conditions of present day Afghanistan.

There is a new enemy. There is a new war. There is a new warrior. He is Tier 1.

So, the open beta for the PC being opened on the 4th of October, and there isn't an up to date thread about it. Release date is pegged to the 12th of October, so it's basically upon us.

It's going to be run off the Frostbite 2 engine, the same as Bad Company 2. I already own Bad Company 2 for the PC, so I'm not too worried about the MP side of things, as it's being developed by DICE (BC2) as well, so it'll be very similar to BC2's MP. More info:

To date we've revealed three modes, Combat Mission, Sector Control and Team Assault. Combat Mission is an objective based game mode where Coalition forces are tasked to clear five consecutive objectives and the insurgents must stop them from progressing. Team Assault is a Team Deathmatch mode where two sides struggle to reach a preset amount of points to win. Sector Control is a domination type game mode where players fight to secure and hold objectives points, contributing to the final score of the match.
So basically, Rush, TDM and Domination/Conquest. There is another one as well, Objective RAID, which seems similar to Rush. I'll post up more info when I get it.

If you haven't seen it, you're missing out. This SP trailer is what's gotten me excited about the game in the first place. It really looks great, and it seems to be moving toward the epic set-piece shooter environment like the recent CoD titles. Hopefully though, they maintain the feel of the classic MoH gameplay, similar to Allied Assault back in the day.

So, are you going to get it, what are your thoughts, which platform? I'm definitely going to, just for the SP. I'll check out the multiplayer, as I think the destructible environments of the Frostbite engine will work really well in more urban environments.

Heh, exactly. It's silly that they even bothered to rename them, when they're exactly the same.

Really looking forward to this. Already pre-ordered it for XBox a while back.

This. If it is anything like Allied Assault, I'll love this. And the beard of course.

I was actually hoping the multiplayer would be closer to COD than BC2. Will have to rethink this. I don't really have that much play time to focus on team based multiplayer.

Didn't the preview in NAG say its more of a "solo" multiplayer or something.... i.e. requires less teamwork then BC2

Already pre-ordered it for the PC a while back

Hope the multiplayer is as slick as cod4 , and weapons are as tasty as bad company 2.
I've even convinced my friends who pirate almost everything to buy it , but was not successful in persuading the local ginger kid.

I played the closed beta, and it was was pretty cool. The weapons felt a bit pew pew. Would have liked it to feel and sound more like bfbc2. Apparently they made a lot of changes after the beta. And the cherry on the cake is that on 4 October 2010 you can download and play the public multiplayer beta.

Unfortunately, it seems EA caved to the pressure and have cut the Taliban from the game.

Its ok to kill them, but you arent allowed to be in their shoes? I havent been even remotely keeping an eye on this game, the single player is something id play, but as for multiplayer, ill stick to BFBC2.
Id rather get Black Ops, but it will most likely be the same price as their last COD game, so ill have to pass :/

Will the "Opposing Force" still look like Taliban tho? Since those people bitched about it, they should be forced to buy the game.

I'm getting this to try out the TA and CM modes in the game. I also own BBC2 for PC and have little doubt that this will be awesome too.

I love this world so much :/

Very disappointed by this. Why is it acceptable to play as Nazis in WWII games, but not play as the Taliban here? Such double standards. Furthermore, it stinks of attempted thought control too, as if people playing the game are being judged as incapable of picking "the right side" to play as. I think it's disgusting that a game publisher has caved to the demands of western military agendas.

Although I am curious as to how they're going to remove this from the game when it's due out in two weeks - surely the discs have already been manufactured?

Maybe the rest of the world should ask to have America "removed" from the world, but that's just silly talk(and besides then there would be no MoH :P).

You raise an interesting point about the discs though, I see 2 options: Delay or update.
