The Dota Comp was a success. With Clan DUCoRe Totally dominating the competition!
They walked away with R1000, and 5 copies of AVG( the gaming edition one) courtesy of NAG.

The LAN itself was great! The only problem we had was when one of the clan in the dota comp couldn't set up their TS/Mumble .

I just couldn't believe the amount of leavers and rage quitters/pullers i got in normal dota games. I'm really disappointed.

Also pokerface has now officially been banned in my house.

All in all i think this year was a success!
Thanks to the VC Crew and the NAG team for hosting this event!
yeah i agree pokerface is banned for life curse lady gaga for ever writing that song.

yeah the dota comp was a complete success.

had a few time delays but yeah it was good.

thanks to vc and the nag crew you guys did a great job. i just wanna ask so long if we can make a official dota tournie next year.

the open lan was great just the leavers!!!!!!! ban them for life!!!

o and i just want to know can we have a after rage comp for who took a photo with the hottest booth babe :D?

Loved it, first time there, and it lived up to my expectations.

Word of warning for next year, don't challenge a playstation booth babe to a game, they are ridiculously good, especially when they get the whole weekend to practice.

Just wish I didn't have to hear some MC shout the worlds most overused catchphrase, MAKE SOME NOISE, every 5 minutes.

    hey guys

long time reader, first time poster (just completed my registration for this thread)

    bit of background:
been reading NAG for about three years now. since the start i was fascinated by the Dream Machine. managed to get my own this year July (i5, 5970, gigabyte p55 mb, coolermaster cosmos). always fascinated by the idea of RAGE.

    first rage experience:
this year was my first event and it blew my mind. (spent the whole weekend taking snaps like a tabloid photographer, even at the expo - until i saw the sign).

    the LAN:
BEAUTIFUL - i'm sure i intimidated some of the guys sitting around me cos i spent most of my time watching them play MW & COD (never played either before). i was too dof too figure out how to get onto one of the servers.

    the EXPO:
RIDICULOUS - i could not believe how many people were wandering around there on saturday. looked worse than a jazz festival. one of the best parts was standing in the LAN "cage" (Do Not Feed the Gamers - LOL) and seeing people standing outside just watching us while we could wander in and out as we wanted. schweet!!!

"doh" moment: getting home on sunday and realizing i STILL had not bought the new NAG despite putting it off until RAGE.

life-altering experience: i go to sleep at about 2 saturday mornig under my table. wake up just after 4 and this big dude is standing over my friend's pc next to me - ooooooh kaaaay - turns out he rocked up to try and give my friend some pc support. my response: PC Support?!? at 4 in the morning?!? RAGE ROCKS!!!

friday just after we managed to get st up inside, a friend from Jo'burg (i'm from Kimberley) wants to meet me. i get outside & he asks me:
"So what are you guys doing inside"
    me: "playing computer games"
    him: "and what else"
me: "ummm, that's it basically...oh and there's an expo going on and what not"
him: "so you came all the way from kimberley to play computer games"
    me: "ummm, yeah"
    him: "......."
    me: "........"
him: "so couldn't you just do this AT HOME?!?"

i've loved gaming since i discovered DiabloII at varsity. RAGE reminded me that there are people out there who get it. i don't need to explain myself to those who don't, i just need to find those people who do.

    Can't Wait for RAGE2011
(sorry if post is too long - will talk about the rest later)

thanks to everyone who made my dream come true.
living or realizing a dream always changes you - sometimes substantially - ALWAYS fundamentally

Um, many of my mates and I were playing SC2 for most of the weekend. Heck, we even played some ladder games with internationals, lag free.

played some dota, hon, random td and ran 3dmark to test out my new gfx card so I could've done some more damage if I only went to copy.

Me and my mates had a good laugh when the it sounded like the MC had an orgasm shouting EA EA EA.....
He totally lost it at the end.

Expo was a bit meh, but the LAN was great.
Is it just me, or is this year a bit more expensive than last.
I had to take a friend of mine to a different place to buy a HDD. It was a whole R200 cheaper than most offers at rage.

Will the organizers of the comps please get more involved with the local lanners as well.
I wasn't sure if the game played on Sunday around 2:00-ish was a final or semifinal.
I stood behind a a group of peeps staring at a 20"-ish screen, while someone made live commentary that only (who knows) could listen to.

    Aver all rAge was awesome.
Loved the booth babes, liked the booths and I fully enjoyed the LAN.
I will definitely be back next year.

Well i had an awesome time at rAge this year, it was the best rAge so far and i must say a big thanks to the vc crew, whenever there was a problem with someones pc or the network near me they fixed it within 10 minutes, i was very impressed, also a big thank you to Maxx for running a successful css comp for us @ rAge, it was awesome even though the servers glitched every now and then, we all had fun playing the comp, thank you :P

See you all next year for another awesome rAge :P

Couple of things I didn't like, that dude who did the music mixing close to the do-broadband stand, way to loud man, seriously, my mouse started jumping around and I could not understand why, then the dude next to me also complained about it, his mouse mointer moved by itself, we bouth have lazer mice, and we figured it out, it's the loud bass and we was sitting so close, it really started to hurt my head.

the guys at the Lan area gate, they don't have any standard, one day they give you a card with your reg number on it, that evening, we had to sign a book, next day nothing, wtf??

I must say the security at the lan event was awesum, bit irritaing, but very good, peace of mind if you leave your 10 grand rig behind.

Internet was great and it was quite fast.......

Toilets did not have the flooding of pee issue, thumbs up on that.

    Food was average

LAN was great, LAN performance was great.

Pitty I could not get the CODMW2 out there to everyone, I did manage to get it to about 20 guys and we jammed it, but there was too many difrent versions floating around, ended up playing on steam anyway.

    VC team, great job!!!!

NAG Great job, thanks guys for a awesum rAge 2010........give yourselfs a moerse pat on the back for a job well done.

Napkins. There was an Anat directly adjacent the Lanning area. Best. Idea. Ever.

rAge was great... ok it was AWSOME, but for 1 thing. It makes me quite sad to say this, but the gamers are a bunch filthy pigs!!!! Seriously ppl clean up after yourself, dont leave all the junk you bought on the floor (table) pick it up and throw it in the GD dustbin, it dosnt waste any extra energy.

Other for that!! Great stuff NAG staff and VC crew you ppl were awsome!!
And thank you, looking forward to rAge 2011!!

What score did you get on 3d Marks Vantage? And what card did you buy?

    Hi

Thanks for all the comments, seems we are edging in the right direction. Just a few quick answers to some points raised:

    "Internet Connection"
The idea was only to authenticate games that run of STEAM etc. Games that required a connection to the internet because servers were only hosted on the internet were not part of the planning. Because of this, the ports etc of these games were not part of the initial setup. Some people looked up ports and gave them to us. When we saw that the internet connection settled after downloading everybody's steam updates, we added some of these games that were not supposed to be covered. COD, SC2 and HON were added. From some of the posts here you can see that some people were playing them. We even tested WOW against better judgment but the lag to the servers was just too severe. It is clear that an internet connection has now become necessary for every rAge. I hope that we will be able to supply more bandwidth and have more time to finalize the details for next year. We will however not plan to replace your internet connection so that you may come to rAge to play online.

    "Official comps"
We had the details sorted but our official comp hosters pulled out at the last minute. We still managed to do the CS comp. Nictron ran the strategy comp as usual. and somebody made the effort to run the DOTA comp. My appreciation and congratulations to these members that were willing to go through the effort. Not sure how we will handle things next year, since it was supposed to be sorted this year. We will however try and ensure that we do our best for next year.

The expo etc I cannot really comment on. Thus if you have a few bright ideas, why not pm me with the details. We will start working on next years rAge quite soon.

had a 8800gts 320mb (this is my spare pc's card, my 8800gt broke, thus the need for a new card)
    got about 4300
    bought a gtx465 1gb
score went up to about 12200
didn't know about the glitch with physx so my cpu score was like 32000 the second time round(only running an athlon II x3 2.9ghz), it really annoyed my friend who was running an i5 oc'ed to 4.2ghz who only managed 18000.
I read that you can flash a 465 to a 470 so I might try that, should up the score to 14k or 15k.

If you and your friend knew anything about Vantage, you would know that the CPU score with and without PhysX doesn't affect your P-score at the end of the day. PhysX just takes the load off of your CPU for the CPU tests, that's it. Your friend's CPU still kicks the **** out of yours.

Also, officially, you're not supposed to run Vantage with the PPU (or PhysX) enabled, since it isn't standard to all cards. If you submit on HWBot or in a comp, your PhysX score doesn't count.

BTW, I thought the 470 was stronger than that. My 5850 gets 15500 with stock clocks in Vantage, 18000 overclocked.

Its a 465. I said I might flash it to a 470 and then I'll know the score for sure. It was just a random guess :/

No ****, that's why it was so funny.

And I wasn't going for any records or crap, just trying to see what the improvement was over my old card.

    "That was me "

I recalled the avatar but did not have the energy to look you up yesterday. Maybe start speaking to me next year about 2 months prior to the event and we will plan something.
