Thread: Tell us about your Rage 2010 experience

I compare this rAge to the only other one I have ever attended, rAge 2008.
I would have to say that I did enjoy this year's rAge, but as already stated above, I expected more stalls, more freebies and more games.

I was so hoping to see Fable III, maybe another day. There was a lot of Reach being played, which might be expected, but the game has already been launched, might have been useful to plug other games? (Like Fable III???)

The only stall that gave freebies worth returning for again and again was the HP Networking stall (The Slushies were awesome, and free mini-Bar Ones)

I did get a Play & Charge kit for R200 @ Cats Digital (a bargain for me) and I wanted to buy MW2 for a friend on the PS3 for R350 (also at Cats), but it had already been sold when I got back.

As for Kinect, I enjoyed it, before rAge I had no inclination to get it and didn't even want consider myself playing. When I saw it at rAge, I decided to try it and I must admit that it has changed my perspective completaly. I will be buying it, but only to play when I have friends over as a party trick (...and for my girlfriend, who loves every aspect of Kinect).

I will return another year, and take in everything that is rAge.
    Thank you NAG!!!

We had some issues with the rAge Rig display on Friday, but got it all sorted out by Saturday.

    Fun expo and Nag LAN!
But it kind of ****ed me off when I walked around and saw most of the PCs on DC++. Not playing just copying.
COD4 Shipment map with 30 players was just a big fun cluster ****! And I got a awesome 8GB flash for R120. Still can't decide which booth babes looked the hottest, MSI's or AMD's? Maybe we should start a thread...

I really and honestly thought that this years rage was the best that I have been to. Lanned at first one, visited a couple of times after that, then lanned last and this year and it just keeps on getting better. Heck maybe I could've spoken to a couple of the forumites in person without realising it (if you remember speaking to someone wearing an 'A-team' cap on friday that was me) but I know i did speak to a couple (can't remember names) on dc++.

and really I thought that if I have to hear 'Funky Town' ONE MORE TIME I then I would've slit my wrists. Plus I also hope that we got that record (the 100 players for 41 hours attempt), because from a casual glance it looked as if there were that many people playing.

In fact if anyone who worked and slaved to make sure the lan, and expo, went off without a hitch a HUGE THANKS AND A BIG BOTTOMS UP TO YOU GUYS!

All I can say about the LAN, It was damn awesome!!!

@bullet Best mouse you'll ever own dude, I've had mine for about 6 months now, and I am totally satisfied in every aspect!

... Don't forget to clap guys!

Oh, and don't forget "could you take me to... FUNKYTOWN!!!" -- Dear lord I HATE that bloody song so much... I wonder if that chick from that stall knows how much she was hated by half the LANers there. LoL. Next year ima go Poke-her-face and tell her to choose another song FFS...

    @Pixieman - Make it stop! :P lol

    LAN...
Was the best LAN exp I've had from my four years of rAge LAN'ing. Network ran perfectly all weekend, and most importantly, during the 12 hours of the DotA comp. Keep up the fantastic work VC!

    Expo...
Was disappointed by the PS3 Move, way too many Wii looking games. T_T The Kinect was pretty sweet though, keen to see what "actual games" can do with the hardware. Was blown away by the console-exclusives (Enslaved/vanquished), makes me wanna buy a PS3. The booth-babes were _everywhere_, was fantastic. Got to see the Quake-pros in action, which was one of the things I was most looking forward to at the expo. The 3D gaming stands came as a pleasant surprise, I'm now a fan and can't wait to get my rig 3D-ready.

Just a few things bothered me. Firstly the lights were never off! All night never off! I thought the LAN was going to be generally darker this time around?

Then secondly, the "enforcement" of maximum screen size. On the forums it was stated, several times that the maximum screen size would be 24", no exceptions and offenders would be turned away at the door, now a friend of mine only has a 27" so he arranged to borrow a 23" from a friend for the weekend. Now i dont have a problem with the limit on screen size, what i do have a problem with is the people with 27" screens being allowed to use those screens even tho they are over the limit. Whats the point of imposing a limit if it just gets ignored? Next year if such a limit is made again im certain everyone with a 27" (or higher) screen will just bring those anyway and say "oh i didnt know there was a limit and this is all i have" very dissapointed in this regard.
I agree on both points, please kill the lights we ask every year.
I myself did go through allot of effort to get a 24 inch screen as i only have a 26". But when i got there several people used 26' screens. Plus i saw no problem with it, they all had plenty space to spare. There was more than enough room where i sat for my 26' to fit. Please reconsider for next year.

    BUT
Expo was amazing got to try out all the latest gadgets what more do you want !
    Lan was awesome as well.

The stalls by the entrance were terrible and the exhibitors were not worth checking out.Was a poor effort and not really worth visiting.Plus the expo looked and felt small but since it was my first time being there I had no clue....

Damn! Can't get those songs out of my mind. :(

Liked the Microsoft Xbox\Live stations connected to the net...posted that post in the preparations thread here using one of those stations. Was disappointed that I wasn't in the right spot for the giveaways when they happened.I did managed to get 2 free pens and a temp tattoo.Should have had more caps and t-shirts,etc to give away.

Those padded sumo wrestling bouts were hilarious in the EA Sports octagonal ring! The MC was good though! The Kinect wasn't bad but it did not impress me and PS Move is another type of Wiimote...

Wanted to point out few issues at Rage this past weekend.
Internet connection was big issue for most popular games like HoN , Starcraft 2 that needed constant internet connection, there was none for these games, actually nothing really works, regarding that. The technicians on site could get that going, and for so many people there to lan, there was a lack of technical guys on-site.Next year please make sure they get the required ports for games that requires internet connection to be opened on routers if they dont want to share internet across the LAN for everyone. That was the biggest issue there, some games needed to use port 80 to work, but they couldn't open it,they could have followed up on what ports it was using and allowed it so that we can play(There was allot of people there who walked around and asked about whether HoN ect will be able to work)We trained the whole year on that game, and there were promises that there will be connection to play that tipe of games,I know it is the first year for that demand but please let them do their homework on port required beforehand on popular games required for internet please.

    Otherwise great weekend thanks

    Rage was awesome!
The expo did seem smaller this year, and i also found it disappointing, with only a few stands peaking my interest (those with booth babes :D).

The Dota Comp was a success. With Clan DUCoRe Totally dominating the competition!
They walked away with R1000, and 5 copies of AVG( the gaming edition one) courtesy of NAG.

The LAN itself was great! The only problem we had was when one of the clan in the dota comp couldn't set up their TS/Mumble .

I just couldn't believe the amount of leavers and rage quitters/pullers i got in normal dota games. I'm really disappointed.

Also pokerface has now officially been banned in my house.

All in all i think this year was a success!
Thanks to the VC Crew and the NAG team for hosting this event!
