^ Will DO!
Thanks For everything!
First of all - RAGE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! Loved it!
but then again, I dont know much about IP's and that kind of stuff, but I realized that the DC servers were slower and my friend said its because of the automatic IP's. Is that gonna be difrent next year? and I dont know if anyone else asked this, but are the rumors true about rage being in Cape Town next year? if so, that will have to be one very long and expensive road-trip. but anyway, RAGE WAS GOOOOOOOOOOOD!
Man guys I am begging you to do next year in Durban I missed it cous of transport and about 30 of my mates as well
I tend to find that Rage just seems to get worse and worse each year. I remember way back in '06, Rage was so freaking awesome. Then '07 was pretty sweet, but after that it just all went downhill, and pretty quickly. To me, this was the worst Rage I have ever been to.
I mean, the NAG stand usually had stuff like Guitar Hero or Rock Band going, getting some crowd interaction going. This year DJV was there and the NAG Ultimate PC in a glass box. That was it. That said, I go for the social aspect, to meet all the guys I play with online, but then again we could just aswell go some place else to do so. If this is the trend Rage is going to take, I don't think I'll be attending any future ones.
You seem to have isolated the NAG stand in your complaints, but then state that rAge itself is getting worse. I don't follow. There are always other stands that have Guitar Hero or other social or rhythm games. Why is it that those stands don't satisfy your needs?
Also, as far as I'm aware, the NAG stand had Guitar Hero just the one year (2007), and never Rock Band.
What, exactly, do people expect from an expo? Rage was totally worth the R50 entry I paid this year, even though I was there for only a few hours. There were loads of games to play, competitions and whatnot. My personal complaint would be layout. A lot of the xbox titles seemed to be put in a way that had the players blocking walkways. The xbox stands right by the kinect displays were particularly useless. I landed up in front of some dude trying to play reach because I was watching the kinect games/displays. Basically, more space around where the player is meant to stand.
My Rage experience was great i enjoyed everything this year, the LAN network ran smooth, didn't experience any lag in my games i played.I was especially happy to see guys playing some cs:source once again.
The only downfall i found with Rage was the expo side, there's not as many stores selling pc hardware, but that's no-ones fault. There was still plenty to do during the weekend though.
On a side note one Particular store that i miss from a few Rage's ago was Naked IT they had such awesome products, anyone know what happened to them?
Rage this year was great, the expo was better than a couple of other times. BUT the Kinect dancing stage, Funky Town and Poker Face, I wanted a power failure there... Also the EA fighting cage, WAY too loud, all you hear the whole expo, for people fighting in sumo suits, The whole expo wants to be heard! :/
The Lan area was great, awesome atmosphere as always, bit disappointing that most of the people were DC++ing, And majority of game play for anyone that was not, was CoD, I enjoyed the occasional Nazi Zombies we managed to get going, but CoD4 was a bit much for 3 days, We tried to get the variety going, think next year We should organize a group of people for "Random Gaming". So anything vintage or new, we just jam it ALL! :D (like Dungeon Lords, or Aliens vs Predators from 1999 :D RANDOM!)
Quake 3 servers were a bust, which was sad! But just me been pedantic.
Otherwise successful year! Really enjoyed it.
Each time a smell the smell of hot dogs & Power Play I think back to our early morning Cod4 wars :D
"but I realized that the DC servers were slower and my friend said its because of the automatic IP's. Is that gonna be difrent next year? and I dont know if anyone else asked this, but are the rumors true about rage being in Cape Town next year?"
Not really a fan of DC++ myself. Had somebody use my PC on DC and heard no copmplaints from them. The DC server had a static IP address and as such I cannot see that it influenced anything.
rAge in Cape Town is always on the wish list. Not sure about any specifics for next year though. Thus a rumor as far as I know.
What about a pamphlet with a map with a legend of the expo so we can find ourselves around and not get lost...Also will the highlights vid of the expo be on the next NAG dvd?It wasn't on last years November\December dvds.
I enjoyed rage.
The lan section was truly something to behold.
"something tells me next rage you might need a bigger venue"
I was also half orgasmic to see dead space 2 there.
Seeing as this NAG LAN was the first one I've been to, it wasn't bad. I enjoyed a lot of the stuff there, though I would have liked to take part in that MAKRO NFS Shift Comp, but the guys couldn't get the two seats to work together. It was kinda nice to see Grant there (The host of Zoopy) and that interview with the Editor?
It seems Boss-man can hold his own pretty well.
And what about that RIG Comp??? The one in this months' NAG?? That Thing is HUGE in the Hardware department. It was also good to see Neo there doing the Draw, just a shame I didn't win it...
Hope we can do this again next year.
PS. I was the one trying to start up a Freelancer server.Didn't work out.
PPS. stength, I wish you good gaming.

actually the com is still on and the draw only takes place sometime next month I think
Not the damn NAG Rig. The one you had to fill in a ticket for. The DAMN RIG Neo did a review on in this month's NAG. Go to the hardware section and check it out.
Darnit,am I the only one that actually SAW it???
The guys that built it had a draw at rAge on Sunday (Around the time the LAN ended)...
Man.....
Oh, the GEC SuperComputer thing? I saw it (wowzerz) and I think I entered, but didn't win it... Wait a minute, maybe I did, I just don't know about it! If only.
That's a bit far-fetched though. Anyone that water-cools their HDDs and RAM is a douche with too much cash. That whole rig is completely over the top to be honest. What really got me though, was at the expo, they had it running a normal old 22in screen. Honestly, with 3 GTX 480s, if you don't have at least three 23in screens or a 30in 2560x1600, you're not going to see any difference between my 5850 and that setup in any game other than Crysis or Metro 2033.
True. But they did have the LED screen back there with all the other stuff, you know.
If you did win, they would have called you or e-mailed you. Neo did the draw and he himself did the phone call.
I was there.
BTW. It was good to see him.
Its an overall downward spiral. The NAG stand was just a perfect example - in my opinion - of the lack of attraction towards the expo. The '06 and '07 expos had an awesome atmosphere that used to buzz with excitement. This years one was rather bland and uninspired. Its as if the organizers just went in with the mindset "Lets just get this over with", and didn't actually give it any extra thought.
To me it seems Rage has boiled down to a LAN with an ad-hoc expo that just doesn't display anything worthwhile. Sure, there are stands demonstrating new things such as Kinect and Move, but the exhibitors just never seem to come to the party anymore. I'm also beginning to wonder if Tide Media is contemplating just taking the expo away and making it a rather large LAN.
