No Invoker pictures just yet...
Here's hoping the next artwork they release copies off the other Kunkka loading screens.

Faceless Void I HATE YOU!!! just can't play against him. Kills me every time.
You can use "width" and "height" in your IMG tags to manipulate the size of the original picture, and then add in an encompassing URL tag to link to the original picture in full size. It's called a thumbnail. :P
At first I looked at that and thought "HoN", but then I looked closer, and my word it excited me... Many, many dota-gasms will be had, after Gamescom footage is released.
EDIT: Oh, wait, BB Code doesn't allow size manipulation. Never mind, then!

Another:
Actually glad it doesn't look like HoN, since I'm probably gonna play both I want variety. Also the environment kinda reminds me of planescape torment and baldurs gate, a timeless peace of art.

I really like the art style of the backgrounds. Looks like a painting. But since when are there stairs in a forest? :P
But...but...That's not RIGHT!
I had to know Valve wasn't going to get it perfect :/
EDIT: OT though, the graphics are less "shiny" than I expected. But the more I look at Luci, the more I like it. Holy **** I now can't wait for the bloody game!!! {insert world's widest smile here}
Looks like those screenshots are 4 months old, the GUI apparently got a huge overall. Looking at the leaked changelog that statement is probably true.
Actually, I remember when Dota 2 was first announced they explicitly mentioned that the graphics, spells and effects would be made in such a way that it doesn't clutter the screen and disables you so see anything. I can tell with great accuracy that there are times in games where too many spells in one spot causes so much confusion you don't know what the hell is going on there. Spells such as Enigma's Midnight Pulse affects a fairly large area, and those sparkly **** from Radiance can quickly make the game "too shiny". I'm happy if the spells are heavily graphical but not overdone.
And that's the way we want it. I checked on the Luci screenshot and immediately felt at home. I knew exactly what every bar and spot meant before I even thought about it. Items can be a bit of a bitch though, but I recognized common ones like GG Branches, HP and MP Potions and Urn to name a few.
This game is looking more and more like I always dreamed the DotA sequel should be. I just hope they release something like a collectors edition or some Dota 2 hero figurines or something. I'd kill for figurines of Lina (wink wink my avatar), Necrolyte, Slark and Morph.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about. This will definitely be a point for DotA 2 over LoL and HoN.
You've got a point there. But things like a "shop" section that's permanently there is a bit pointless. Why don't they just make it pop up when you're at the shop? Also, they've left quite a bit of space open. They could use that sort of space to show buffs, debuffs, etc. I guess it's a bit pointless commenting on this if they've revamped the GUI, though.
EDIT: Ah, I see there's a close icon next to the shop part.
Yeah that and, LoL and HoN are soooo wannabe DotA, it's actually comical (they're even FREE now).
I don't understand how they can make a "quick buy" menu, unless you can choose the items you want before visiting the shop and when you come in range it auto-buys everything you selected. But that's just me.
And they are actually showing buffs and nerfs. Look at the Venge screenie - just above the HP bar - it's one of the first things I noticed. That is so obviously her Command Aura at work there it's not even funny...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I played DotA (It's been a while) you had 2 "inventories". One on the hero, and one at the shop. You could buy 6 items from the base shop (not the other ones) and pick them up when you went back to heal. Maybe it was only in the version that I played, who knows?
No no you're correct. You're not limited to buying items into your inventory when you aren't there though, you can purchase as much as you want and it simply stays on top of your circle (protecting them is limited to 6 items INSIDE the circle menu).
But that's the thing about "quick buy" or w/e they want to name it. No idea how it will work. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Technically LoL was always free.
Let's not get elitist here. :P
I assume it's either one of two things:
1. You quick-buy a recipe and if you have the gold, the game buys the items and merges them for you, so for example you click S&Y with like 6,000 gold and you just get it, straight, completed. Or if you don't have enough gold, the game selects the best items to buy so far with what you have.
2. Like HoN's core-builds idea, if you have a specific hero, the game is coded to recommend certain items, so using quick-buy in that situation would yield likely strong items in some scripted order.
3. You can customise builds for each hero? Iffy.
Did I say two?
Don't forget that Dota is a custom map for what we know and love as Warcraft 3, and in a strategy game you don't want buff indicators glaring at you, which is why they were in that little space on the bottom of your unit frame.
A Dota-centric game is always going to break from the RTS moulds, with the more prominent buff indicators being one of those changes.
EDIT:
Fake / Legit. You decide.
