Thread: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1...

Default Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1...

So I don't know the exact release date but it's only a couple of days to the release of the movie. I'm quite the Potter fan but not quite one of the movies so far especially after the last one which, for me at least, didn't go down well. Here's a trailer I found and to be honest, it's looking good.
So, who's itching to go see it if at all?

I just hope the new movie isn't all dull, grey and morbid like the previous one. Then again, I can't honestly say I enjoyed any of the movies except the first 2. Those two just had a type of charm to them that was never found in the ones following them.

Meh - its all I can say after how they butchered the last one. If I see it, I see it. If I don't well tough ****.

The movie is coming out on 26 November but there is a show this Friday at 8pm. Only one show. I got my tickets already. Looking forward to it and I've read the book. I'm curious though where they would cut the first part off...

Isn't doing too well on Metacritic so far. Eh, I'm going to see it anyway.

The last one was Harry Potter: Twilight Edition. So ****ing lame... This one does look to be good, I am definitely going to see it. At least this one will have a lot more than the 2 mediocre fighting scenes like the previous

The last movie was basically the build up to the final movie/s, it had to be done to lay the ground work so the end makes sense. Well thats how i see it. I can't wait to see it. Pity the release date is before pay day. Hope i miss the masses then.

I'm a huge fan, so I'll be going to watch it again. The premier is this Friday, and the general release is on 26 Novemeber. The 6th movie was a real mess up, hopefully the do a good job with 2 parts of the 7th movie. I'm glad they going for 2 parts, there's very little which should be cut from the book.

Also, a request, those of you you get to see the premier or see it some other way, please use spoiler tags!

Reviews have been improving, stands on 69 now.

But let me just say this: all the positive reviews I've read are from people that have followed the movies from the beginning, and get what they are about. The negatives are from those overly-technical critics that are more worried about pacing, cinematography, etc.

So if you're a Harry Potter fan, you were always going to watch this anyway, but don't take note of the less-favourable reviews.

Just got back from the movies and it's great. They stayed truer to the book and while there was some added comic relief the story stays darker. I will post more tomorrow when I can use my pc and spoiler tags.

Anyone else seen the movie yet? It's now my favourite HP movie. They kept most of the scenes true to the book. They toned dow nsome of the violence, but the age restriction is only 10. Some things from the books finally appear the mirror which Sirius gave to Harry, and Bill is in the movie . I felt that the Harry and Hermione dancing in the tent scene was unneeded, but at least the comic relief is at a minimum. I like they way in which the Deathly Hallows story was told, and that they should at least one actual killing. They actually had Hedwig die, which I thought they have have skipped.

The ending was about where I assumed it would be, and sets up the next part very well. For those who haven't read the book, expect something different.

Movie was bloody brilliant (in the words of Ron). I like that it remained dark and action packed. I would so watch that again. It ended at a brilliant cliff hanger could not have choosen a better spot. I completely agree with Crazydude the way they told deathly hallow story was awesome one of the most memorable events in the movie for me. Loved the movie worth the watch!!! Would have loved to see it in 3D.

Harry Potter still doing well despite the twilight craze http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...e-records.html

Just came back from watching it, was really good. Except for the part where they aimlessly walked around and camped all the time. The rest, really good. Looking forward to the final installment.

    Watched and loved it.

Definitely my favorite of the series thus far.

I get a lot of "that dancing scene in the tent was unnecessary" from people, I disagree, people are looking at that scene as some random piece they just threw in for no apparent reason, I actually thought it's purpose was very important.

I might just read too much into things but what I got from that was
    a) Harry just wanted to cheer her up, because truth be told he misses Ron just as much as she does, being his best friend and all, thinking that in some how making her feel better he'd make himself feel better.

    b) It showed a lot of what was going on in Hermiones head, especially the way she feels about both Harry and Ron, this scene pretty much cements the fact that she cares for Ron in much more intimate way than she would for Harry, shown by the slight pause at the end where she simply turns away and returns to her depressed state. there was no akward look, no feelings of weakness, she didn't cave in and kiss him, she accepted his attempt at making her feel better and went on worrying about Ron, and obviously the situation they find themselves in.

I thought the scene was an important representation of where the group dynamic between the three of them -properly- is, given a serious enough circumstance.

I have to add I've never read the books, as I'm planning on doing that after I watched all the movies (this way I enjoy the films, which I have since they started, and will enjoy the books since everyone tells me they're better than the films anyway)

I loved almost everything about the film actually.
it was much more serious and dark, it had some brilliantly comical scenes at the right moments and I'm a sucker for romance and tragedy, of which you find both in Ron/Hermione and Harry.

Only thing I would have wanted was to see more of Luna, I adore that girl, I always love the weird characters the most.
Also, I wanna see Neville kick some ass.

Luna didn't really have a major role in the 7th book, but yeah I agree with you in that I think she's actually pretty cool. She was only really brought into the 7th book when she was rescued from the Malfoy's mansion.

The dance scene does show what you said, but I guess as someone that has read the books, I already knew that that was there, and would have prefered less time to be given to that. At least so that they could have added more to other scenes.

As for Neville, he has his part to play in Part 2.

Just some useless information to chuckle about: Tom Felton (Draco) recently tweeted: "Goodnight, from my bed in London." A Female fan replied: "Would you mind if I slither in?"
