Default Winamp 5.5 - 10 Years of Winamp

I recently downloaded and installed Winamp 5.5. I must say that I'm really impressed by it.

I've been bored for a while with the previous versions of Winamp, but this latest installment has really re-invigorated my interest in the program. I'm not normally impressed by album art and the like, but the way in which all the album info is incorporated in 5.5 is really useful and shiny.

Not only does 5.5 retrieve all the album info, it also provides direct links to fan sites and news of the band you are listening to. I won't be using too much of Windows Media Player anymore; IMO Winamp is much better at giving me the music that I want, when I want it.

Anybody else out there with something to say about WinAmp 5.5, good or bad?

I was using winamp 2.4 until I got introduced to Foobar2000. Newer winamps use up too many of my precious resources

Wow plopshop, you have quite a variety of artists there... And tubthumping. It was a cool song its days.

The current Winamp (v5.x) something still works fine by me. If its not broken, why fix it? Or perhaps, I am just too lazy to get the new version. >.<

Yeah, lol, I've been working on that collection since the first installment of Winamp i.e. for 10 years now.

Tubthumping...I think it was one of theme songs for the 1998 Fifa World Cup. It's a great party number (drunken-sing-along-beer-downing song).

Lolz, you have some doubles in there, man.

Also, I think I'm going to give this version of Winamp a try.

lol, yeah, still busy sorting out my dupes after transferring my entire collection from my old pc to my new one.

What are you using now? I'd recommend using 5.5 with the bento skin. A real breath of fresh air.

I use iTunes. Yeah, I know, I know. I got hooked on it when I was using the iTunes Store every day, and to be honest I kind of like it. Haven't used Winamp in ages. Maybe I'll give it a go.

It's funny, I actually use three different music players (iTunes,WMP,Winamp 5.35) at the moment, depending on what music I'm going to listen to. I rly, rly want to consolidate the three playlists into one proper library. Winamp 5.5 might just be my motivator.

I used to use Winamp the whole time, then with a format i switched to Itunes, then with my last format I changed to WMP 11, but I think I'm gonna head on back to Winamp.

    Really like this pic:

I'm really liking the 5.5 library, very fast and powerful. I prefer it above the WMP library system. The default view in 5.5 allows you to sort by album, artist and title at the same time. Also, WMP lacks enqueue.

Word. The enqueue function is a big part of my life, no doubt.

Yeah, 5.5's library rly appeals to me. I used to be totally satisfied just lumping all my music into folders/sub-folders and then just let Winamp's playlist sort them by filename. Nowadays though, I crave order almost to an anal extent.

It seems that I'm bringing home CD's every other day. With the influx of music into the ol' collection, you need to keep tabs on what's what, you know?

Foobar2000 ftw... Tabbed playlists... instant, and I do mean instant track loading (split files flow as if one file)... amazingly low on cpu... hoorah. Did I mention tabbed playlists??

None of that flashy pretty stuff :P

I guess thats why I dont "pimp my PC" either. Simple and efficient does it for me
