lol, you read me like an open book. :P

No, it's not about that: it's like, I dunno - I bought the game, I installed it, then I started playing and yeah, decided to check out the SP. And yeah, it was... Lackluster, to say the least. I just thought it was very, VERY cliched and entirely too camp. But I still played through it because, well, I ****ing paid for it. :D

All I'm saying is, don't make a half-assed campaign filled with unlikable characters that you can't relate to waving their verbal ****s around while they shoot up white minorities. The level of camp and forced humour in some parts was actually barbarically retarded. And yet they thought it was good enough to just leave as is?

I dunno, maybe I'm just hard to please when it comes to FPS games. But I loved BF2, played it for hundreds of hours on the SGS servers, then the BC2 MP is effin' FANTASTIC, play is at often as there is nobody else on my line so I don't lag my balls off.

So yeah, I just hope that they don't shoehorn a crappy campaign into a game with AMAZING multiplayer because, after having played the SP, and LOVED the MP, whenever I talk about it to friends for the first time, my opening line will be (just like with BC2), "It's ****ing awesome, but the campaign sucks a fat one." I just hope that it doesn't happend with BF3.

@ Zoop: I fully understand what you mean by "non-serious tone", but I just thought BC2 was too camp for it's own good. If you want "non-serious" - start getting psyched for Bulletstorm. :D

I actually enjoyed the BC campaigns. Sure, they are campy and silly but I think that's why I liked them, because they didn't take themselves too seriously. Of course, the multiplayer is where Battlefield truly shines and I've had far too many hours of fun online with my friends but I'll still play the campaigns in future titles simply because they're a nice way to get to know the weapons, develop a feel for the game and have a bit of a romp.

I'll admit that these were the main reasons that I actually finished BC2 SP, and in general enjoyed it in some parts; firing rate, reload times, iron sights, etc. etc. so that it was easier to start MP not like a total noob. :P

Meh, to each his/ her own, I suppose. :) I just like when a game is on either side of the seriousness spectrum, not somewhere in the middle. As in, either Call Of Duty or Serious Sam, you know? This is why stuff like JC2 didn't actually bring me much joy, because it's too camp and too silly but not camp and silly ENOUGH. And yes, I realize that I may come across as an impossible-to-please kind of person, but, like I said - I'm just very specific about FPS games, more than any other genre.

EDIT: Yes, I know that JC2 is not an FPS, don't be a ****, [insert future snide comment author here]. :P

I stopped playing BBC2 about 3 months ago when the hackers started to rape the SGS servers for the PC version. (And no, a guy space jumping 30 feet in the air firing an infinite volley of tube grenades is not me playing ****!)

But I remember clocking over 140 hours on BF2 so I'll definitely check this one out. Buuuuut I think I'm gonna pick this up for the olde 360.

Hm. I much preferred the Battlefield: Bad Company campaigns over the Modern Warfare ones. Sure, they're both good, but I found the BC ones to be a lot more entertaining.

Anyway, here's a demo of the engine:

Alan Kertz, the design lead of Battlefield 3 has been interacting with the community quiet a bit since the game got announced. What’s his chosen medium of communication? Twitter ofcourse.

The man disclosed a host of brief yet important details regarding their upcoming shooter and also answered how they plan to beat Call of Duty with Battlefield 3.

When asked how they plan to beat CoD and if they are going to take any cues from it by a fan, the man said:

You don’t kill COD by trying to be COD. You kill COD by making a better shooter.

Well, that says a lot and we hope that they can indeed create an experience which is superior to the now stagnating “Call of Duty” one.

This not all that he said though, Kerzt, disclosed quiet a few tidbits regarding the game while answering questions thrown by fans.

We’ve collected some important ones for you below:

    * Prone is confirmed for all three platforms
    * Tracers are confirmed.
    * MoH MP and BC2 used the same weapon and FOV systems… BF3 is an upgraded version
    * You can expect awesome destruction effect and vehicle details in the game.
    * Consoles will be able to get the Limited Edition too.
    * Friendly fire is an option
    * No grappling hook or zipline will be there in the game.
    * Vehicle Infantry balance is a huge focus
    * Pre-ordering automatically gets you the Limited Edition of the game without any extra-charge.
    * Dolphin Driving is out

The game will be shown for the first time at GDC in San Francisco at the end of this month.

There are hackers in each game. Just do what most people do - see a hacker, move to another server. Or just come back later. It's the one problem with SGS servers - there are never any ****ing admins there.

I want to see people get squashed by the supply drops or vehicle drops :(

Seriously though, I'm disappointed that this feature won't return.

I have enough faith in DICE that if the Commander feature is gone, there will be something just as useful/awesome in the final game.

Hopefully, because I also enjoyed sending in my squads to certain death.

Ah... I love the commander feature.

I never played commander but I loved having a good one on our team - much better than the BC2 system of calling out capture points for your squad and stuffs. I think that it added an awesome layer of strategy to a first-person game, rarely seen nowadays (if you don't count the upcoming Natural Selection II).

The commander was a vital comunication point for the team. The squad on the ground can easily get air support [if there is a squad leader flying a plane/helicopter]. I think team based games today emphasize a bit less on team play and more on who can get the best K/D in the team. That's what I loved about BF2, you were part of a team, and although some tried to get the most kills etc, you as player ranked 10th on the server still felt the pride of victory for your efforts.

Yeah, I never quite reached the Top 10. xDDD

But I def see your point. If they took the 64-player, Commander-fueled combat of BF2 and added the refined squad system of BC2 - it would be quite a shweet effin' game. So I really hope they throw in something epic to make up for Commander being taken away.

    Also - PLANES!
