Hi all.
I'm Looking to host the HON/Dota Tournament at Rage this year again.
Last year We hosted the DOTA Tournament.
I want to get a feel for the community's choice
My Question to you are would you guys prefer a Dota or a Hon tournament this year?

Obvious choice is obvious.
With Dota 2 being released Q4 2011 though, I think it'd only be fair to give HoN a chance one year... Then again, why not just stick to DotA? It's awesome... :D
Please be aware that this entire sub-forum will be archived when the new rAge 2011 sub-forum goes up. I suggest that you raise your concerns a little closer to the time.
Dota.. accept no substitutes.
Apart from the internet connection requirement HoN is far Superior and easier to organize when it comes to tournaments.
If someone's Pc and game crashes, they can just reconnect.
If someone really really needs to go to the bathroom or some other misc occurrences during game, they can just pause.
Having referees and spectators in the game, doesn't mess up the mini map.
You have the ability to host a tournament mode in HoN keeping the game vanilla and mod free, fair.
You won't have to police for 3rd party cheats, applications in DotA, like showing mana bars seems to be the hot thing to do in DotA, even though it makes unstable.
You'll have the backing of S2Games, can maybe even get the match shoutcasted by HoNCast.
The replay system is more awesome, so people can check the game out themselves later on without you needing to upload the file somewhere else.
DotA runs on an engine dating back to July 5th, 2002. HoN was released May 12th, 2010. Of course it will have everything extra. Doesn't make it a good game though. Has some nice features, but as it is a shameless copy, I am disappoint.
Dota 2 will be awesome. Everything HoN has and everything it wishes to be in one, pretty piece of software. With an accomplishment section (Toxxyc looks with doubt).
Oh, and DotA can be paused. F10 + M if I'm not mistaken.
It can also be unpaused by the enemy team and it happens immediately without any warning, also can't move the map giving whoever is in the right position at the time an slight unfair advantage.
Also it's averaging 40k concurrent users at any time, so there's a lot of people that disagree with you, that it isn't a good game. It's not a shameless copy either, they've brought many game changing mechanics and heroes in. The metagame is miles apart from that of DotA, much faster paced, action orientated.
HoN is also bringing out better heroes than DotA atm, way better than some gay walrus.
This reminds of the 1.6 vs css arguments. HON is just better. End of story. The is no reason to stick to dota.
I hear you. But DotA players still sit in the majority. Many will disagree, that's a fact (nobody, ever, will all agree on anything). I just like DotA much, much more (same as quite a few people still prefer 1.6 to css or cscz). That's just the way it is. I think they should host a tourney with both games. Increase the population dramatically.
Also, the people at my work now thinks I'm a little nuts for bursting out laughing about your gay walrus statement. Genius.
