Thread: The Diablo3 Thread of Heavens and Trembling

Nobody is swinging anything. I'm just trying to tell the guy that regardless of what platform he buys Diablo 3 on, he's going to have to have an internet connection. To be quite honest, I live in a small town and we have minimal disruptions to our connectivity, so I don't think this will be any different to what I go through already with Wow and Guild Wars

    ;)

Look a little further above your post on the previous page, wasn't talking to you.

I know this kind of thing is inevitable, online authentication, always-on and so on. I just find it stupid that you have to be online for the SP campaign. Again, I read their reasoning, but it grates.

    Hi guys,

I don't want this to seem like spam, but would just like to inform you that there are a few of us trying to get a local Diablo 3 community going.

A place where SA ppl can share information, get to know others and eventually play together when the game hits. Would it not be great when the game hits and you know where to find other SA guys who understands Telskum, who have the same culture, who you can get to know and trust to play with you in the 4th D3 difficulty and even actually share items with etc...

Anyway guys, we have a site up @ http://ndn.guildlaunch.com/
Feel free to have a look and "Apply" there and become part of the D3 community.
You'll can find out more about the 'name' etc once you are a member.

Beta is expected in the 1st part of Sept and we are hoping for a few beta testers within the community. (there might even be some more news regarding beta testing coming from our side soon)

    Regards,

    /Snow

Is it possible to get a D3 beta key if you live in SA? I want to play D3 before it's released!!!!

I'm really looking forward to the Beta. I was in both The Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm beta for World of Warcraft and actually did give some feedback regarding quests and mechanics. I know that does not make me more eligible than anybody else, but One can hope can't he.

That (PTR) is a bit different ain't it :)

I did closed beta testing for D2, does that help me? But I wish everyone hoping for some Beta play the best of luck.

I recon there will be multiple waves of beta keys as its only the 1st 1/3 or so of Act 1, 2-4 hours playtime max.
You do have 5 classes to go through, but eventually ppl would have done all they can, without really getting any more xp etc and they would want to keep the players @ a decent number.

Allot of people already know what class they want to play 1st, but trying them all out with the beta can just help you finally decide :)

The inevitable system requirements post (I think this will be close to the finished products system requirements) :

    Diablo III beta system requirements

Yesterday Blizzard community manager Bashiok confirmed that the closed Diablo III beta was "very close" to going live. It was also revealed that Blizzard staff and family members have been playing the game in a closed beta.

"FYI, we’re getting very close to starting the closed public beta test for Diablo III. You might start seeing some new reports about the beta client as we’ve begun limited external testing with employees and their families, and there is no non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for that. We look forward to sharing more info about the beta test in the near future. Stay tuned."

"If you have a beta license, you are free to show, share, or talk about any portion of the beta content to which you have access, as this beta test is not confidential."

The beta client is now available for download, but weighs in at a hefty 14GBs, and of course it will not be of any use to anyone without a beta code.

Now system requirements have emerged for the beta, and in true Blizzard style the game will not require a beast of a gaming PC to run.

The core requirements are 1GB of system memory, and an Intel Pentium D, 2.8GHz CPU, which means that if you have used you PC for playing games in the past years you should be fine.

The list of graphics cards supported is a bit more complicated, but if you have Radeon X850 XT or anything earlier then you will not be able to play the beta. A Radeon X1900/GeForce 7800GS generation card will manage the game just barely, and something along the lines of a GeForce 8800GT will manage the game of medium settings.

A GeForce GTX 280 and upwards will be able to handle the game on high settings.

Of course these only apply to the beta, and should not be taken as the final official Diablo III system requirements. However, with the game nearing the end of development we should expect the final specs to be fairly close to these.

Funny that they didn't make a dual-core the minimum requirement. I also find it curious that the graphics requirement is as high as it is. Bad optimization or excellent graphics? Any news on DX9/10/11 support?

    Pentium D = dual-core.
