The weight goes bye-bye. I've lost everything I had gained about 2 months after I stopped. Decided to stay a 70-something.

@ Wisp. Dude, just be careful, that is all. Whatever you do, don't abuse it, and I would recommend getting off it as quickly as is feasible.

That **** is addictive, my friends mom takes two diet caps every morning just to give her a bit of pep for her day. I went through a stage in my drug days where I was taking a couple caps a day. I think that was probably one of the most mentally and physically destructive drugs I have ever taken - I started losing the plot proper. Started getting paranoid, losing touch with reality, and my brain went to **** (you think that **** makes you focus, it doesn't, it makes you freaking ADD is what.) Eventually I started getting paralysing... I don't know what... like electric shocks up the back of my neck and and head after the one time I went ridiculously overboard and partied so hard that I became completely dehydrated and had what I can only describe as a heat stroke (I say that because I've had a heat stroke before, and this was a similar feeling). Of course i was abusing the stuff, but my point is that it's a drug - a pretty hard core one at that, so if you value your health don't abuse it. Ever seen the movie Requiem for a Dream? The old lady who starts losing her mind? Those were diet pills.

The GOMAD diet is very tempting, but I don't want to do anything that will be unhealthy for me. I just thought that if it's safe (I can live with some of the side effects for a month or two) and affordable, then why not? I'm 1.7m tall and weigh 58kg - I don't mind a bit of fat. However, there are other healthier ways of getting the same results (maybe even better, since it would be all lean muscle gain) it will just take more time for me to be able to get myself to a point where I can

    A) Get more food in my stomach
    B) Afford more food to put in my stomach.

I find that I have a day where I simply can't eat enough; no matter how full I get I start feeling hungry again within 30 mins; and then the next day I have to force myself to get a sandwiche down. The people I rent from have been awesome, and have been instrumental in helping me put together a good diet, but they have also asked me to pay a bit more because I'm eating a lot more fruit, peanut butter, and avoes (yum!). I've also got protein shake, but I only use it pre and post workout. I simply can't afford to take it 5 times a day as is recommended for a hard-gainer like myself.

I'm not losing hope, by any means. I am focusing on the positive gains that I have made in muscle and strength, and I'm not losing sight of the fact that this is a long term lifestyle choice I have made - to be fit and strong and live a long healthy life. That is a life time worth of gyming, not just a few months.

Two words: Low GI (ok one word and an abbreviation).

EDIT: Also, a regular sleep pattern as well as a small breakfast helps me get a nice fat appetite for the day. I don't generally eat in the morning (I struggle getting food down as soon as I wake up) but even if I force myself to eat two or three fruits I have a monster of an appetite by lunchtime. They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I can see why.

    That **** is addictive, .

i know it is very additive thats why you can only be on Duro short a short period of time (they are Schedule 5), i have one more script to fill and thats it, i will only be on them for 2 months , they say no more than 3 but i wont need them after 2 besides if i eat the foods that i am eating now and look after my diet i wount have to go through this again ...as i say desperate times call for desperate measures it this was not desicion taken lightly a did a lot of research into this whole thing before i tried them , the tablets lay in drawer for nearly a month before i made the desicion to start them ...end september i will be off them promise

as for it supposed to be like speed my doctor says thats not true ...hope shes right :D

Hi. Um is there any way to lose a lot of weight and keep it off. I've tried multiple diets and eating plans but I end up putting more weight on and not losing any. There is two that I've thought about, either diet pills from a medical personal, but that will be doubtful due to my age. The second is a diet that is suposed to reset the body metabalism, and I've heard that it works but in my current situation it will not be feasable at the moment. Is there anything that you guys and girls can suggest that could help?

I also struggle to keep going. I normally gym for about a month, including all the healthy eating but then for some reason, I don't continue and then I just put back all the weight. I know that I am currently on the heavy side, which I do not want to be but I'm going to do two months of intense cardio.

My main problem is loosing weight. I don't want to do weights now but I am doing the circuit once a week. I have not gone through this entire thread because I do not have the time now but I will do it later on. I use to gym with a buddy of mine but then he canceled his gym membership so that is one of the reasons that I stopped as well. o_0

Edit: I have started yesterday with the cardio for about 90 minutes a day.

Anybody from Stellenbosch know what the hell happened to the Virgin Active that was going to open there? Me and my friends have been planning to sign up all year, but when we went over to actually go do it, no gym to be seen. Even said there was going to be one there on their website. :?

I already have someone though. :D Besides, I'm actually pretty happy all by myself, being introverted and all that.

The thing is, you should not do it for somebody else. You should do it for yourself. Because if you do it for a girl, when you get her, what happens then? You start to loose track because you have her already and then you end up the way you looked before.

Trust me, I've been through that. Did it for an ex and we where together for over 3 years. You should do it because YOU want to. Not for any other reason.

Competition is nice though. Like my one friend had an SA sports star as his gf and it did him wonders to stay fit and so on.

The discipline required to constantly push myself to my physical limits. Setting goals for myself and working my ass off to achieve them. I just love weight lifting. It's my quiet time and I find it mentally very relaxing.

Get a friend to join you. Working alone soon seems boring.

Also, set a weight goal. For me, I have to pick up at least 12kg to come close to my goal. Maybe you have to lose 12kg. Weigh yourself every two weeks, and if you start straying, get working.

I'm a bit bummed. I have been getting strong with my squats and I was confident I had good form - I had my mate record me the last couple times I did it so I could check. So last night I felt like I needed to add more weight. I added 10kg - bringing the total to 30kg - and I did 12 reps no sweat. So on my second set I decided to add another 10kg, did 12 reps with a little bit more strain, but my mate said my form looked good and I wasn't experiencing any pain at all so I was happy that I was able to do it, and I was finally actually working my legs a bit. I was even thinking that I will add more in my next gym session. Then, on my third and final set I got up to 8 reps when my knee suddenly started making a clicking noise. I can't understand it, nothing flet different, I still felt strong and I wasn't experiencing any pain - but I decided to err on the side of caution and call it quits. An hour or so after my gym session I started feeling a mild pain in the knee that was clicking. What the hell is going wrong? I don't get it. It's the same as with my shoulder. I've been following exercise instructions from Bodybuilding.com to the letter, and like I say I've been doing this for 5 weeks now, making sure that I don't go too heavy and get my form right before adding more weight.

Eish dude. Yeah you still have to look at your form. If you keep your head up your back will be straight. Yeah I could let my butt nearly touch the floor with 120kg but that was after 2 years of squating. You won't have that deep range of motion yet. Only squat intill you upper thigh is parallel to the floor not lower. Same applies to any joint, your range of motion will improve over time.

Man you guys are seriously making me want to train again.
Anyone have any idea where I might find this in the Durban area? It's quite a bargain I must say. The problem is that Springbok Pharmacy reckons it would cost R400 for shipping...

I don't do supplements anymore, I just eat more fish and veggies. I've settled back into gym life nicely. but then, I never had a problem with going to the gym. I have a good friend who doubles as a gym buddy. I never really ate right and gym'd right, now I'm doing both, and I can see the huge difference when I'm at the gym. More energy, faster gain, so on.

Also, when doing weights, be carefull bending more than 90 degrees. You don't want to put too much strain on your joints when you're starting. Hell, even after doing it for a while. Technique is super important. Don't be sucked into the pointless :'how much do you bench' questions. It doesn't matter. People go to the gym for many different reasons. Some go to gain weight, some to lose, some for fitness. Know why you are there, it doesn't matter what the guy next to you is doing.

If there is one thing I can't stand it's brown rice... I hate it so much.

I'm not a fussy eater at all and enjoy broccoli and cauliflower and whatever people complain about but brown rice, I really do hate it.
