    I just came home from the gym. R220pm and R250 joining fee. Furthermore you get a qualified personal trainer for R200 once off and he will help you design and develop the best training course for you for what you want to do. R690 for the first month, and R220pm after that. It's going to be pretty awesome, I'm actually looking forward to the whole thing! :)

    May I suggest, for those that find they lack a bit of motivation to do repetitive tasks at the gym, that perhaps you look at joining a sport team (such as indoor soccer/cricket) or start with an individual sport (such as tennis or karate)? I've found joining a dancing group great motivation not only because I have a partner who relies on me getting practice too (and we're both motivated to win the various competitions we've entered into) but also because I have fun and don't think of it as exercise.

    I found an even more cheap gym yesterday, and this one has squash courts as well. Time to dust off the old raquet it seems... :D

    I think I may have injured my shoulder a bit, it started clicking and I get mild pain in certain positions. I'd like to get it diagnosed, but I'm not sure if a GP would be able to give me a reliable diagnosis. The problem is the only public Physiotherapist I know of is in Durban, which is miles too far from me, and the nearest Physiotherapist costs R400 just for a consultation - so it's way too expensive for me.

    Otherwise all is going well. I've been following a 3 day full body routine for about 5 weeks now, and my strength is improving in leaps and bounds. I wasn't always so inactive, so this is probably my muscles catching a wake up after a long, deep, sleep. The whole thing that started me thinking I should go to gym was the fact that I decided to try 20 push-ups - I couldn't make it to 10. I've never been a sporty, or athletic type of guy, but I could do at least do 20 push-ups without too much effort. So when I couldn't even make it to 10 I was horrified. Now, 5 weeks later, I can do 20 without breaking a sweat. Feels damn good.

    I'm thinking of going onto the GOMAD diet after 8 weeks. I've been following a strict diet and making sure I get all the Calories I need, but it's still not enough to see large gains . The GOMAD diet seems to be the most affordable (this gym thing is costing me a fortune already), and if it's true that it can help you gain 10kg in two months that would be great becasue it would bring me up to my target weight - then it would just be a case of maintaining it.

    On a side-note. I am very disappointed in a friend of mine who has started doing steroid pills. I was very suprised to find out he is doing it, because although he has been doing gym for the last two years, I've always thought we saw eye to eye on the subject. Now, I know there has been a lot of media sensationalism around the subject of Steroids, and that Anabolic Steroids are not quite as harmful as some would have you believe, although they definitely have side effects - some people are willing to live with those side effects. The thing that bothers me the most is that I'm pretty sure if they're in pill form then they probably aren't the Anabolic type, and probably fall into the more dangerous and harmful category?

    I'm probably joining a gym today or tomorrow (depending on how work goes), but thus far I'm looking at a high-protein diet. Obvious choices are protein shakes (NO STEROIDS), but I'm going to wait for the personal trainer to hook me up with a good direction. I've set a goal: 90kg's and then I'll re-assess the situation. That's a 13kg gain from what I weigh now, a measly 77kg on my 1,9m body. I look like a piece of spaghetti.

    Just remember that it takes time to heal a problematic joint.

    It helped me overcome my shoulder weakness and pains.

    Keep up the good work bro.

    ioiiooio I would however not advise the GOMAD diet. Fact is, there is no short cut or easy way of doing things. It takes time, some guys only see satisfactory results after a year. You want to gain lean weight, not fat and I honestly cannot see how you could gain lean weight with all those carbs and fats that accompany the protein on the GOMAD diet.

    I know that it costs a fortune and it feels like your not getting anywhere but hang in there.

    The stuff works, but makes you **** big time.
    I got up from 77kg to 90kg in about 3 months, back when I used to gym.
    Then, as soon as you stop, it all goes bye-bye. Not worth the time and money imo.

    What goes bye-bye? Muscles? Weight? I can live with less-than-optimally shaped muscles, I'm 21 and I first need to find a girl... :/

    Dude that's well done. Congrats! You just need to be careful to not drink too much water. Too much can lead to electrolyte poisoning, which makes you feel sluggish and tired a lot of the time. Best to keep up the salts and minerals in your body with enough vitamins and possibly even supplements if you're drinking as much water as you claim. Biltong is also a great idea (but stay away from the fat). A little bit every day can do you no harm, it's pure protein with little fat and cholesterol, especially if you can manage to find venison biltong (kudu is heavenly and makes for the perfect snack).

    @Wisp: You lost ten kilos in a month? I really want to say grats but that sounds a bit hardcore. No weird side-effects? Your digestive system still intact? Not feeling sluggish or lethargic?

    Not even a month, 24 days. Wisp, no offense, but that sounds really unhealthy, especially the part where you say you have to force yourself to eat. That can't be good for you. Sounds more like anorexia than dieting.

    Yeah, looking this review of Duromine, I wouldn't bring it anywhere near my mouth. This scares me away:

    Possible severe side-effects include (this is just the uncommon stuff, there's a whole other list of more common stuff):

    These more serious side effects are:

    * convulsions or seizures
    * fever
    * hallucinations
    * sudden feeling of hostility and urges to attack
    * inconsistent blood pressure
    * feeling lightheaded
    * a time when you feel very excited followed by a period of mass depression
    * tremors
    * physical overreactions (such as in the reflexes)
    * panic attacks
    * restlessness
    * extreme problems with diarrhea
    * vomiting and/or nausea
    * feeling extremely fatigued or weak
    Duromine – not recommended at all!

    The chances that you will lose weight while Duromine are probably very good but the side effects, considering the severity, are just not worth it. In addition, the fact that it is considered to be a controlled substance should also give some indication to the fact that there could be very serious consequences with this drug.

    There are so many other great supplements on the market that have less severe side effects that it’s most likely worth looking into some of those before taking Duromine. Duromine is simply not worth it and the drastic results could most certainly be found elsewhere.
    It's apparently banned in the UK as well.

    ROFL! As far as side effects go that one is the best I've ever seen. I also heard you get a need... A need for speed!

    I'll stop now.

    BTW its now nearly 11kg as of this morning

    I can understand that u guys are shocked but that i lost so much so quickly , yes duromine has side effects and with my Blood pressure it was a big risk ,. I was dizzy for the first 3 days but after that everything came right , in fact my BP has stablised at 120/80 and i cant remember when it was last like that , i am under doctor observation how says that this will at the end lower my Bp and Cholestrol level so there are lost of positives for me . Apart from insomnia (which i had before i started ) and a extremly dry mouth i have no other side effects.Because i am taking the 15mg which is the lowest dosage i use Hoodai to sort of back me up and CLA thermo or herbex fat burner too.As u can see i am currently losing between 300 and 500 grams per day .

    Look i am eating , about a third of what i used to eat , i have changed my life style completely as after as diet is concerned as i do not want to put it back on , sorry but this losing weight is a complete obsession with me at the moment .At current rate and with still one more month on the Duromine i will reach my goal weight of 76 by mid september but want to carrying on down to 69kg if i can .

    I am eating lots of salads , fruit and only grilled chicken (no fat) or grilled fish ABSOLUTLY NO FRIED FOODS , no cool drinks only fruit juice and water and i am really feel great .

    As for the dry mouth , yes it drive you mad but i drink up to 4 lt of water per day and duromine is excreted via the urinary tracked ..oh one other small side effect -constipation but senna tea solves that and i drink lots of vitamins .

    I realise that alot of ppl will think that i am mad to do this but i havent got the will power to diet for 2 month to lose 2kg , its difficult to explain all the reasons why , but lets just says the main reasons are my health ( i take hand full of pills for BP, cholestrol etc everyday and if i can get rid of some off those- great ) and also to save my marriage

    ps mate took the 30mg and lots 18kg in 21 days BTW

    PPs i havent had the urge to attack anyone .....yet :P, as for -" a time when you feel very excited followed by a period of mass depression ", thats pretty normal for me :D
