Motorstorm RC Driving....to be a free download

Wait, what? We're getting a full game for free? Scion have an opportunity here to get some good sales in, since this is still fresh in the launch cycle, and they give it away for free? Score!

*Limited to USA account holders. EU will still have to pay for the game (though it will be cheap) and receive both a PS3 and Vita version for the purchase.

It's R55 on the PS Store.

I presume you have an EU/SA account then? It's free for North America, which is pretty cool for a full Vita title.

R55 isn't too bad. Is this under the "pay once, get both offer", meaning you also get the PS3 version too?

Yup, SA account. It's a fantastic deal. I haven't bought it yet, but I got the demo and it's pretty decent. Not as good as a proper Motorstorm, but it's still fun. Plays like Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off-Road.

You can still get it for free by doing a profile switch. I'd take about 20 mins all in all, but you'd get the game for free.

Remove memory card Format PSV create a free US account Download the game on to your memory card format PSV again Log in with your SA/EU account.

Word on the street is that this method works on EU account holders. So if you're not keen on forking out a 50, this is a good alternative.

So who here owns one? And which game was the major draw for you to buy one at launch rather than wait for them to beef up the roster with serious titles? I know Uncharted is the one most people want, but what else was there?

So, I finished Uncharted: Golden Abyss yesterday and really enjoyed it. It's definitely an Uncharted game for sure, not holding anything back, and I dare to say that it looks and plays better than the first Uncharted game on the PS3.

The game uses every possible feature of the PSV. It's got you titling the console to balance, swiping the screen for combat and various things, using the rear touch-pad to climb and I even got to use the camera once in a nifty manner. However, the use of all these features doesn't make them feel tacked on, or the game like a bloated tech demo. They compliment the game perfectly and don't dumb the game down or give you a ****tier experience by using them. The melee combat is done so well, that I don't want to play another uncharted game without a touch-screen.

Visually, awesome. Not quite PS3, but boy it's pretty darn close to any console-on-the-go experience you're going to get. The campaign is of console-length and never got tedious or repetitive once. I actually plan on another play-through to trophy whore a bit. ****load of collectibles.

I feel like that after playing Dead Space on my SGS...

Anyway, what kind of play time did you get from the game, and how long do you think the average Joe will take to complete it? I've been seeing the prices for the PSV games and they're priced similarly to PC games (maybe a little cheaper), so I would expect play times a little shorter than full PC games seeing as it's on a console.

    Also, can games be traded?

I got the game on Friday, played every day for about 2+ hours in the evening and finally finished it last night, so I'd say about 10-12 hours for an average gamer. They are full-length games.

Yeah, the games you buy physically (on cards) can be traded with friends. So you can finish a game, lend the card to a friend and let him enjoy it as you would a normal game. The games you download however can't, they are tied to your account as far as I am aware (but I am not certain).

Nferno, did you play Uncharted 3? How does Golden Abyss compare to UC3, because honestly, I ****ing hated that game. Uncharted 1? Great. Uncharted 2? Superb. Uncharted 3? Made me want to gargle wasps. Golden Abyss was initially my reason to pick up a PSV on day one, but Uncharted 3 has pretty much killed the franchise for me. Hence I didn't bother to pick up a PSV because there's nothing I want to play as yet.

I'll be honest with you, I haven't completed Uncharted 2 yet, so I didn't pick up UC3. However, Golden Abyss plays a lot like Drakes Fortune, with a lot of changes to the combat system (using the touch features), but it still retains that Uncharted appeal. Golden Abyss beats Drake's Fortune in all departments - graphics, gameplay, story. It's got a more believable story too.

    Remember, it's a prequel.

Perplexing camera system links virtual and real world objects

Boffins at Sony’s London R&D division wowed attendees at GDC this week with a new breakthrough in augmented reality technology.

Known as Magnet, the AR software uses PS Vita’s camera to scan a real-world area and interpret what it sees in 3D. As the camera moves through an environment, it tracks multiple 'interest points' to build a picture of where certain objects are stationed.

The result is an Augmented Reality overlay that can position virtual objects in real world locations and, much like magnets, stick to that position.

"PS Vita is the only affordable portable device out there at the moment that has the power to do this,” said Diarmid Campbell, a programmer at the EyeToy R&D group.

Four videos demonstrating the tech, with comments by Campbell can be found below.

That is ridiculous. The second video blew me away, the shadows of the dragon things on the ground are perfect.
I'd buy a PSV for this.

Man, this is cool. So far the highest rated Vita game out.

So, you want a Vita, but you don’t want the same Vita everyone else has – no, you need something special. Its not enough that you could strip it down and find a way to spray paint and mod it with clear acrylic, you need it to be limited edition, yo. Like those spinning rims you see on them black Hummer H3s the government is driving around these days.

So I give you the Crystal White (no, its not a codename for a drug) Playstation Vita.

May seems to be a pretty big month for the Vita, with a lot of games that would have been great at launch.
