If you haven't received a PM, you play as a normal villager. If you have, you already know your role.

For clarification, all roles and allegiances were selected entirely at random. Again, I stress that the only reason I asked for people's game experience and forum activity is so that I could pick the best liaison out of the randomly selected group. It did not make them any more likely to have a special role.

Basic rules, for the new guys, somewhat plagiarised from the previous game oh-so long ago.

The game has two phases. ‘Night’, when all the nefarious (and perhaps some friendly) people perform their deeds, and ‘day’, the time when accusations fly and votes to lynch are made. After the daytime deadline, at 6, I’ll tally the votes, and someone will die. Probably. Mob justice is unpredictable.

After that, we’ll have the night phase, where all the parties that have a night-time action will send me their targets (or whatever else it is they do at night ;) ) and at about 10 o’clock, everything will be wrapped up and the results of that evening’s events will be posted. The night-time folks don’t have to wait till after 6 to send me their actions. As long as the relevant messages are sent sometime on that day I’ll accept them. It may be beneficial to know who is lynched that day, though, so I don’t recommend being hasty with your night-time antics if at all possible.

The villagers win when all the baddies are dead. Any players with exceptions to this victory rule will have been informed via PM. Some victories may not be mutually exclusive.

Feel free to lie, to deceive, to claim roles (truthfully or not), but one thing IS prohibited: Do not quote (or attempt to quote) anything from a PM I have sent you about your role. Assume that those PMs were never sent, and that you simply ‘knew’ what role you had to play. Everything else is fair game.

Finally, private conversations amongst anyone BUT those on the ‘evil’ side are also strongly discouraged. There’s no way to enforce this, and it’s not truly game breaking, but know that the game is all about the interactions between players. Trading words and accusations in private lessens the information available that may help your side. For all intents and purposes, it is considered cheating.


The time schedule's going to be a little different from last time. Daytime activities (votes to lynch, etc), will run till 6. This is a strict deadline, for everyone's sake. I'll make the summary post at around 7, or as close to 7 as possible. Night-time activities have their deadline at 9, also strict, though everyone with night-time activities will have been notified of this in their role PM too. The night-summary post will probably happen at around 10. Any time before the deadline is acceptable for the action to be considered, though, again, night-time folks will probably want to see the results of the daytime activities if at all possible.

The game will start when I make the opening post, probably around midnight. All relevant information will be provided in story posts. Everything else is a secret. Unless someone gives it away. Did I say there was a secret? There's no secret.

Corpse discovered in woods – cult activity suspected
NAGIA – A corpse of a 32 year old man was discovered in the Nagian woods early this morning by a young boy walking his dog.
The body was found in an artificial clearing that had been adorned with a number of standing stones. The man was bound and had his throat cleanly slit. Preliminary investigations suggested that he had bled to death where he lay, on a large flat stone that stood in the middle of the clearing.

Said sheriff Raktim, “we urge the populous not to panic. We have our highly trained detective on the job to investigate this horrible event.”

There are numerous cults known to operate in and around the Nagian woods. Most are benevolent, but many have shown hostile behaviour towards critics of their faith.

Raktim assures, “we’re looking into all possibilities, including the numerous cults in the area. At the moment, I’m afraid I cannot offer more information. We can, however, assure everyone that all our professionals are on alert for any clues that may lead to the apprehension of the person responsible.”

The Nagian authorities also strongly discouraged any people with thoughts of taking the matter into their own hands. “I am aware that there is much distrust among the populace when it comes to matters involving these cults. Our teams are working hard to uncover the truth behind this grisly event, and any civilians attempting to help will likely only impede our investigations.”

Nagia Times has also been informed that Nagia Clinic has seen increased activity, seemingly in preparation for a high volume of clientele. We could not reach the owner for comment.

Final notes. When you cast your vote, please bold the name of the person you're voting for. If you don't, I won't count it. Please also do not edit your posts, especially not to include votes, it'll just make it more likely that I'll miss it. It's okay to double post for this. The moderators will understand.

You cannot change your vote once you have made it. Choose carefully.

EDIT: And one more thing. In addition to pointing out that PMing amongst people who have not specifically been granted the ability is considered cheating, the same is also true for dead players who continue to communicate with their team. Dead players are welcome to comment in this thread, as are people who aren't playing the game. In this case, however, I'd like all players who are not currently involved in the game to clearly mark as such in their posts; writing all in italics should suffice.

The game will take a break on weekends. Votes and nightly activity will happen Monday through Thursday only. Friday is reserved for something related, also requiring everyone's participation, but no lynchings or night-time activity will occur on Fridays.

Uh. I don't think the sheriff realizes how heinous a crime this is. Cult killings? What? Come on. If this is not some sensationalist squabbling of a professional journalist, then I demand extra detectives being assigned to the case immediately.

A lone detective, really? Really?! I really can't believe this! I feel that the quality of the public service establishments in this day and age is inadequately funded and administrated, at best. It is time that we, as a people, stand together against these cult worshipers. It is time that we drive them from our homes, our streets, our town! Who is with me? Who will fight for our protection and freedom from these religious thugs?

Yeah , I inquired about more detectives at the police station. I was told that this detective is the best and that there will be no more assigned to this case. I was also told that none of us will be allowed out of town. So for now we'll have to sit tight until this case gets solved. :-/
