Thread: Man of Steel [Superman]

    Default Man of Steel [Superman]

I just can't stop thinking of how awesome 2012 will be for superehero movies. One of the most beloved superheroes of all time, Zack Snyder directing , Nolan is Co-writing the story, Zod, No underwear on pants . . . SUPERMAN is back.

No pics have yet been released but the cast looks amazing:

    Henry Cavill - Clark Kent/Superman
    Amy Adams - Lois Lane
    Kevin Costner - Jonathan Kent
    Diane Lane - Martha Kent
    Michael Shannon - Zod
    Julia Ormond - Lara Lor-Van

    Rumoured Cast

    Russell Crowe - Jor-El
    Antje Traue - Faora
    Harry Lennix - Swanwick

It has been confirmed that Superman will be wearing a new costume

This is definately shaping up to be a classic

Why is 2012 still so far away . . .

Agreed. The "underpants on pants" was Superman's trademark. It's what I did when I was a kid - take my reddest pair of undies and wear them over my pants! What will today's kids do? Wear stoopid jeans? Legacy is borked.

Yeah I must admit, I find Supermans story alot more interesting than the finer details of his costume......so yes, definitely looking forward to this one.

Strange, I actually thought people hated the underwear over pants, even in school my teachers made fun of Superman because of his costume.

I can sort of understand losing the underpants, but jeans and work boots? How dull.

I gotta say I still don't get the oversized muscle trend these days. Especially in the case of Batman and Superman. Batman - because I've always thought he should have an athletic build. And Superman - because it would be difficult to keep a secret identity as a bookish dweeb if you look like the Hulk on steroids, and I always thought his incredible strength was attributed to him coming from another planet - not because he has big muscles.

Agreed, the jeans and boots make him look like a bit of a dush

That's because they didn't understand Superman!

Agreed that things are getting a bit dreary and more serious than they maybe should be. Every movie that comes out is like a whole new little apocalypse.

As far as the costume goes, fine, a change of underwear helps once in a while, I know these socks are due for a wash, but work boots and jeans? I'm not commenting on the aesthetics or tradition here, but from a practical point of view: those jeans flap at the ankles, and those are lace-up boots, two dangerous things when you're flying and don't want to hook on things, and when it comes to combat, does anybody want more things to be grabbed by? Just seems a bit inefficient, especially considering the reboot trend for streamlined costumes.

PS: Did Clark Kent even wear jeans? He's a pen pusher in an office, mostly, he wears office wear, not casual wear, most of the time. Unless the new Clark Kent is an everyman construction worker, which then takes away the contrast between his weak appearance and super strength.

He grew up on a farm. Jeans was the only thing he wore.

Fair enough, but is this set in the farm days? I wasn't aware it was a Smallville reboot.

That looks good. Very retro, actually, all that retrofuturistic looking steel safe. That costume looks texture, not just plain old spandex - reminds me of the new Spiderman outfit with its similarly textured surface?
