Default How are you preparing for rAge 2K11

    Howzit,
So with a another year comes another rAge and with that comes upgrades.

Once again the question is how will you be ready, PC wise, for rAge this year.

    So here goes...
In my case I'll only be getting the following:
    http://www.zapsonline.com/mouses-pc/...ing-mouse.html
    http://www.zapsonline.com/45847-raze...d-frpr-ri.html

And while we can't take in screens bigger than 26" I do want to get this for after rAge:
    http://www.zapsonline.com/monitors-p...cr-1000-1.html

Also 4 weeks before rAge I'll be be having a pre-rAge weekend with the friends who are going with me to rAge this year. The purpose of that is to make sure that if a reload is needed then a reload gets done. As well as making sure that the games do work.

    GAME ON!!!

ok just to reiterate this is the preparing thread not the what is in your pc.

    Anyways on topic:

    1) I need start cleaning my pc of junk. Possibly a windows re-install.

    2) Reload my steam games.

    3) Save a bit more cash maybe.

    4) Sort my camera stuff out.

    and that is mostly it.

Well in preparation for this year, myself and friends decided to build boxes to put our PC's in (we never got around to doing so).
So i bought this thing made by Antec called a LanBoard to put my PC on. Last year a friend and I used a trolley from Checkers.
We drove around for 10 minutes trying to find a trolley and when we did, we removed all the stuff from the boot and placed it onto the backseat.
I climbed into the boot and pulled the trolley behind me while my friend drove to the parking.

    But other than that it will just be the usual;
    Re-install windows
    Update drivers
    Re-install games
    Clear crap from hard-drive

And then of course the annual pre-rAge LAN 1 week before.

Already upgraded my PC last month, already bought my carry case, already upgraded all my peripherals, ticket is in safe, Windows check for errors and repaired everyday until the big day and my hype is constantly growing bigger as the days pass. So I am pretty pumped and ready for rAge this year...again! :D

Right now the only thing I'm doing is keeping my tickets safe. :P Will get my PC into gear a few days before the rAge LAN, not much needed though for DotA. >_<

I hope to upgrade my gfx card BEFORE I get there (only got a 1gig 9400gt in there so if anyone can give me some ideas on what card to get <must be cheaper than R1500 but no less than R1000 so I can get some good performance in current games please pm me as I don't think this is the right place to post for that kind of thing>) but the rest in there is still fine (core2duo e6750, 4 gig ram, dual boot with windows 7 and ubuntu, bdrom <in case I want to watch a blu-ray whilest over there> and a 1.25 tb hard drive).

Try and see if you can get an EVGA GTX460. The price should be low by now.

    My Rig:

    Gigabyte GA X38 Mobo
    4GB DDR2 Mushkin OC Ram
    Intel C2Q 9550 12mb Cache running at 3.8Ghz
    EVGA Geforce 560Ti + Inno3D GTX460 as a PhysX card
    Around 4TB storage
    Coolermaster HAF 922
    Samsung 26" LCD
    Logitech G35 Headset

    Things I need to do:

Get my finances sorted, as I want to look for good deals to upgrade my Hardware, which includes going AMD Bulldozer if it's out by then, otherwise Intel i5 2500K should do fine. Also looking to get another 560Ti to Sli the rig.

Need to pressure blow the PC to get rid of all the dust bunnies.

Also bringing a pillow this time, and have built a trolley for my PC so I dont need to pick up and put down every 10 seconds in the queue.

Also already got the latest DC++ running, and files for sharing are hashed, then I also need to make sure all my software is up to date.

    That's about it. :)

Those that are looking at buying stuff, I would advise trying to buy at rAge if you can for the simple reason being that stores tend to have some wicked specials going on. Unless you got a really bad pc and wont run anything at LAN i suggest waiting if you can.
