I was just wondering what should be upgraded first in my system:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 2.83GHz
Mobo: Asus P5G41T-M LX
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333MHz
GFX: ATI Radeon 5770 1GB ddr5
HDD: 3 x 1TB Drives
PSU: Vantec ION2 520W PSU
Screen: Samsung B2230
Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X6
I was wondering whether an upgrade to an i5 would make that much of a difference
Thanx
Upgrading to an i5 is definitly worth while. You will see the difference in your performance. But remember that you will need a new mobo to support the socket 1155/1156/1366. I have built a few rigs with the second gen i5's (the 1155 mobo's) and they perform outstanding. Your RAM can go over to the upgraded board as well as the rest. And depending on the mobo of choice you might have to check the specs on power consumption for the power supply.
Planning to upgrade pc (using 4 lan)
Cpu:Core2duo 2.93ghz
Mem:2gb 667mhz(2x1gb)kingmax
Mb:msi G31TM-P35
Looking at the upgrade kit from computersonly.co.za at stand:
CPU: i5 2500k 3.30ghz
RAM: Patriot G2 Series 1600 MHz 8GB(2X4gb) PGD38 G1600 ELK memory Kit
MB: Asus PZ68-V LE motherboard
Cost about R4000.wat do u think?reasonable or not.then need advice on a gud corsair power supply gt R1200 to spend(want a 750w if possible :( ....
Price looks good!
And with R1200 you can buy the Corsair TX 750 v2. I baught one 2 months ago and i'm very happy with it! You can buy it for R1200 at Rampage gaming...
Are you going to be using the on-board GPU with the i5? If not, then you don't have to buy the Z68 chipset, Can buy the P67 chipset which is a bit cheaper..
I'm using the Asus P8P67 Deluxe, i5 2500k and corsair vengence 1600 memory....

I agree, price is good. A good guess for a power supply is at prophecy.co.za they have a nice coolermaster for around a R1000 which is 750W link:http://www.prophecy.co.za/bpower-sup...beaf589ab065e4.
I trust that site alot. Have built most of my pc from them
@Reforged Thanx for the reply, that's exactly what i thought. I just wanted an outsider's opinion.
Prophecy has good service, but they are just a bit expensive.... And I would advise to stay away from the Coolermaster GX range, they are known to cause a bit of trouble with high end hardware, Just a friendly warning :)
Haha yeah not a big fan of coolmaster psu hey..corsair and antec all da way.@Jawz89 for da time being have 2 stick with my msi 9400gt..zZz.want to start off properly rather than having high end graphic card+new psu with dated system.
Haha just a small tip, nVidia's new cards was set to launch end of this year, but was delayed till early next year... save till you have enough for them ;P
^haha yeah can't wait ...
