Bit off topic but .. IF you only get the 4mb package you loose out on 60% of your line.
Id suggest get a 1GB option from telkom ( its 5GB now ) for like R100 . it has 20GB local traffic.
you then use route sentry or traffic splitter to make all local traffic go via the telkom one. so Any gaming you do is still at 10Mb.
My speed test results are,
Downloadspeed:1.779Mbps
Uploadspeed:0.829Mbps
I performed my internet speed test here Scanmyspeed.com.
Is this good or not?
It's great for a 384 line, but it's quite bad for a 10meg one.
Was browsing Webafrica forum.
Mother fakker.
Link that makes me jelly
LOL that's what happens when you ping and speedtest from yourself to yourself. Funny enough that's not even close to fiber optic speeds :P

1Mb/s Uncapped from Telkom. Its like that all day, everyday and I've yet to be throttled.
Also, my Pingtest. Honestly, Telkom's FTTC (Fiber To The Curb) is really making an impact here in Jeffreys where all the telephone poles were phased out over three years with underground fiber connections. I never get line drops, Skype works like a bomb and I've yet to call Telkom even once to complain.
ADSL, even a good 1Mb connection, is miles away from what I was experiencing with 3G.

This is the 10mb line at home, using Afrihost 2gig account.
EDIT: This is using the MyBroadband speedtest
Local
Download Speed: 7945 kbps (993.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 850 kbps (106.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 24 ms
International
Download Speed: 4748 kbps (593.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 818 kbps (102.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 193 ms
Don't know why there's such a big difference between the two, think a family member might be downloading on the line.

Hahaha I am happy believe me. Do you know how much trouble we had to go through for them to eventually move us from 4mb to 6mb and then to 10mb.
I'm just glad it's working nicely now.
