I'm very happy with my line, although those pings seem a little higher than normal, normally between 60-70ms

Edit: very odd, get 55ms ping to the telkom server in joburg, even though I'm closer to cape town

Next week we're upgrading to a 10meg line, though I'm only going for a 4meg uncapped line from mweb. I would just like to have the speed there ye know. :P

Yeah it's free, but they will throttle your speed during term after 2 gigs of downloading during a single day.

Yeah, it only goes as high as 0.51, they aren't very generous on the upload speeds, but I've never noticed it being a problem.

Varsity speeds are amazing, I've seen wits hit over 100Mb/s. They generally have a lot of their own infrastructure, lines, exchanges and what-not, not clear on the details, but when it goes unused it's amazing. Only problem is, during the first semester it's dead slow as hundreds of first years jump onto youtube.

but we pay per MB for internet, 10c/MB during the day, 5c/MB in the evenings and 1c/MB after midnight.

I've had 8MB/s downloads from Steam servers. But when you think that to download a 8GB game over Steam costs you R80 at the cheapest time...

not sure how he got that line for *free* as it clearly shows that line is faster than 90% of NL.
