So, I've been meaning to jump into Lovecraft's work. Problem is, I don't know where to start! I've already read Call of Cthulhu and At The Mountains of Madness, but I want to read the rest of his work in such a way that I can piece together the pieces of his mythos myself, which I've heard is more fun.

    So, any recommendations?

There's the Necronomicon compilation that has all (or most) of his work. That would be a great place to start, I suppose.

Started reading Assassins Creed: The Secret Crusade by Oliver Bowden, enjoying it so far. Altair rocks!

Already halfway through AC: The Secret Crusade, I feel that Bowden has done a really great job at deepening the character of Altair, so far a great read.

I decided that this year I'd get back into reading. Here's my list so far:

I am David - Anne holmes (Re-read) (Complete)
    Harry Potter books - J. K. Rowling (Re-read) (Complete)
Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini (Complete)
The Hunger Games trilogy - Suzanne Collins (I started the first book today)

Just finished Magician by Raymond E Feist and in all honesty, it has to be one of the finest fantasy novels I have ever read. I am reading the sequel now and should be done with it by the end of the weekend. Silverthorn that is. Also busy with Bram Stokers Dracula :)

just started reading (I'm about chapter 9 or 10 I think) 'Jacked - The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto by David Kushner' which is basically about how GTA became a video gaming icon and from what I have read up till now I can't wait till I get to reading about the 'Hot Cofee' scandal (or Coffeegate they termed it) because I'm struggling to stop turning the pages.

Dude, I ADORE Magician. Still probably my favourite book, and I re-read it ever few years. I love each of the major characters, and love their individual arcs. Pug becoming Milamber was huge for me growing up, but over repeated readings, I started enjoying Thomas and Arutha just as much. Hell, now I know what I'm reading after I'm done with A Song of Ice and Fire.

Reading Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.

I saw the movie recently so thought why not try the book.

This was only my first reading of it since my friend lent it to me. Him and his wife have been fans of Feist for years so they recommended it and I have no regrets ever picking it up. Fantastic way to start the weekend. Yeah, who Pug transformed into was amazing. Always had a thing for magic and Feist did it ever so well. It is amazing what he accomplished in 830 odd pages. :D

I was really disappointed though when Martin never took the crown.

You really should read further. While I didn't care much for Silverthorn or Darkness At Sethanon (compared to Magician anyway), There are many other great Feist books set in Midkemia (and Tsuranuani) that you should look into, like Kings Buccaneer and the Empire series.

So, Hunger Games. The fans seem to love it, but is it actually a good book? I'm scared it's basically just another Twilight.

    Twilight wasn't that bad.

It was no ground-breaking work but it was still a good read.

Currently reading all the books in the Enders game series.

I only got the shadow trilogy after finishing Children of the Mind so I'm a little bummed that I couldnt read it all in chronological order.

Yeah, I will be finishing the other two books in the trilogy by the end of this week. Cannot wait to see what happens in Silverthorn because the start is absolutely fantastic.

I do also notice that some of the characters from Return to Krondor (the game) are making more sense. :)

Does Jimmy The Hand feature in Silverthorn? I can't remember, but he was in Return To Krondor (as the main character iirc) and has a pretty awesome opening.

Sorry, don't know how to do the blackout thing.

Jimmy saves Arutha after he took out the Nighthawk on the ceiling. He then gets promoted to Squire James. It is where you find out his relationship to The Upright Man.

Fiest was also one of the first authors I started reading as a kid. Personally I enjoyed everything up to and including The Serpentwar Saga. Everything after that was a joke.
The Empire series, as Cleric mentioned, is also a very good read.

Myself, I just finished The House of Chains, book four of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, and currently waiting, very impatiently I must say, for book five to arrive from takealot.
I think Grim said it best earlier in this thread, but this is quite simply THE best series I have ever read. If you enjoy fantasy and have yet to read this series? Gtfo this thread and go buy book 1, you won't regret it.

Midnight Tides changes things up quite substantially; it actually made for a nice change of pace (not that the pacing lets up) but I can't wait for you to get stuck into The Bonehunters. It's right up their with Memories of Ice.
