I'm so extremely excited at the moment! I managed to snatch myself a beta key during one of the giveaways that happened this weekened. I nearly died when I got the message that I was actually in!

I'll be looking forward to joining you guys. I haven't saved enough cash yet to pre-purchase, and I'm not sure whether my computer will like the game in the first place. This will answer my question and let me get a taste of what I've been craving. Lovely. :>

No idea what class I'll try. I like so many. :<

Does the client calculate percentage downloaded depending on how many files are left or how many megabytes remaining to download?

Just curious as it is sitting on 3% complete after having downloaded 800mb during the current session and about 4.8gb before that. I thought the game was only a 10gb download, or is it larger? :O

Also: does the beta key tie your account to a specific computer? Or can you log in from different locations? I won't be on for some of the weekend and I was thinking of giving my account details to a trustworthy friend of mine so that no time is wasted, but I don't want to be locked out of the weekend myself if it ends up binding to his computer or something.

Man.. I feel like a young child waiting for Christmas.. 6 sleepies left!

I believe its % based on files, but don't quote me on that. The final size should be around 13Gb now after the few recent small updates.

The key doesn't tie you to a pc. It allows you to create a login, which can then be used from anywhere.

Not sure if each race has a special passive like in WoW?

Each race does have a racial specific Elite skill. Charrs have the Charzooka, & Humans have Hounds of Balthazar etc.

They are PvE only skills, & are more for fun than usefulness, but fun is always good :)

Just giving a heads up; there has been a large client update.. most likely at least a gig or more in size. Get downloading, people!

It is kinda like cruel mockery, really. I was at something like 60,000 files remaining yesterday.. then I saw something over Twitter last night about a major update.. it went back over +100,000 files again. T_T

So basically, if you are in South Africa and want to partake in the beta, you're ****ed. -_-

I got paid today, so I was thinking about getting the Digital Deluxe from the GW2 site so I can get some of that sweet extra ****, but now I'm doubting - if the size of the beta client is 13 gigs, I can only imagine the final product to be at most twice that, and at least close to 20 gigs. I DO NOT HAVE THAT MANY HAMSTERS IN MY ROUTER! ****. What do you guys think, should I just get it through BT Games and skimp out on the extra stuff? That way I pay less and get the game on a DVD so I can at least get most of the client that way. Advice time, people! :)

@ Shadowrend. I gave BT games a copy of the basic 13GB client. Give your local store a call, & ask them to speak to Michelle Holton at their head office to see if they can get you a copy of that. then at least you only have to get the updates.

@Jeronkey. I am currently at 30% & 2GB on the update.. its a tad bigger than 1GB :)
EDIT: It just finished. I missed the end as I was afk , bit it's around 5Gb

I finally finished downloading the client. I was excited just to be able to launch it, look at the beautiful menu, and listen to Jeremy Soule.. It also managed to overly hyped me about this game even more than I was already. Blog post helped as well..

Gah! Hurry up weekend!!

I was wondering how you picked that particular world?
I recall you saying Petrified Forest before, why did you change your mind?
I am not able to play this weekend since I am out of town but my husband will be playing. :(
He has not been following GW at all so I would like to be able to give him some advice.

I'll update this in bit as soon as I can track down a friend of mine and ask him which particular world he is planning on joining, but if he has no preference I might aim to join one that someone else from here is on. :)
