Ive played A LOT since the game released (Almost 350 hours), and it happens often enough to be a problem. So often ill see a guy and empty half a magazine into him, only to have him instakill me, and when i watch the kill cam, im not even shooting. It can get frustrating as hell, especially when you know you have the drop on someone but they own you anyway

Yeah, look it does happen. I'm not saying otherwise, but it's definitely not common enough for me to have a profound effect. And, dare I say, with 350 hours logged, it doesn't seem to deter you either :P

    Maybe it's your connection?

I have MWEBs 1MB uncapped, so i dont see how. Unless they secretly shape gaming traffic :(

One of the biggest problems I have with the game is the respawning, particularly on the smaller maps like Hijacked. To use Geo's example...imagine being the guy he gunned down 3 times in a row. Infuriating. Last night I respawned, and got sniped almost instantly after respawning, and there was nothing I oould have done to prevent that from happening.
Why didn't they just implement a cooldown period of 5 seconds or so after dying?
Other than that, I din't think there is anything seriously wrong with the game...the odd glitch here or there, but nothing terribly major.
As much as I'd like to blame lag for me getting killed or missing my target, it's really my fault the vast majority of the time. Now and then I'm convinced lag does have something to do with it, but not enough to make it a huge issue.

To just comment on a few random things, I reached Prestige level last night and chose to reset my stats. I really should have read the description more carefully though, since I see I start right at the beginning again. I'm an idiot. :(
Anyway, I started at the boot camp again, and for me one of the flaws of the structure of the game became apparent. Most of my matches ended up with me being totally dominant, fragging the new guys with ease. I saw them making all the same mistakes I was making at first. Now I'm not a good player, not even close, and most of the time I seriously struggle to reach a 1:1 ratio kill/death in any game I'm in. Yet, I was toying with the new guys.

The gulf in skill between veteran players and the noobs is just so massive, that I think they should really look at a proper tiering system. Boot Camp does nothing to prepare a noob for the ouright ownage he will face against experienced players, and I think for some people it's pretty demoralising to be little more than a record padder for the better players, until one either gives it up as a bad joke or through dogged determination sticks it out.
Perhaps they should extend Boot Camp to level 20-25, and thereafter you cannot be matched against players more than 10 ranks higher than you, or something like that, up to a certain level. I don't know...but I felt actually quite sorry for the poor bastards being sent off to play against players who had been playing this game for ages already because almost none of them will do anything other than hit the respawn key all the time.

Veterans take their level of skill for granted I think; people forget what it's like for complete novices to try and compete. But maybe I'm just being a soft-ass.

When you die, you're put in an advantageous position; it's not the other way round. When I gun down the same person three times, that's three times they've had equal (if not better) opportunity to kill me.

There is a cooldown in game modes other than TDM. It's just that nobody in this country seems to play anything other than TDM :/

But, yeah, I don't envy those people just getting started in COD now. It's a faster game than what most people expect, and there are nuances that are only learned from experience. To be honest, the TDM issue is a big part of this problem, too. TDM is much quicker than the other modes (maybe not Domination); having the chance to get your eye in during a mode like Demolition or CTF would be very helpful.

The problem is that the guys who do dominate are only so good because they did stick it out. When i started playing MP FPSs i was a total noob, getting owned 24/7. But 1400 hours between BF3 and now CoD have taught me how to not suck. It takes a very long time to become a consistently good player IMO

I guess you're right about the respawning thing...I dunno, I just sometimes feel disadvantaged, but maybe it's just me. I've noticed the cooldown on other game modes, but as you say TDM seems to be by far the most popular game mode. My personal fave is Domination, but I haven't had the opportunity to try all the game modes yet. Sometimes searching for a match other than TDM or Domination can be a bit frustrating. I do like hardcore TDM though...it's at least a tad slower-paced (in my experience) even if it's terribly unforgiving.

And about the speed...as I said to your a while back, that was the issue more than anything else that was (and still does sometimes) give me fits. It's crazy fast and extremely chaotic a lot of the time, and I've noticed that it's not uncommon for even really good players to die a lot in a match.
I'm sure everyone can relate to bagging a kill, only to be mowed down a second later, only to see the guy who killed you to be mowed down by someone else in the next second.

I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. It's just an adjustment I'm struggling to make, especially with those demon snipers out there. It feels like nowhere you go is safe. :/

I'm pretty sure you're spot-on saying that. Hey, I'm sticking it out, even if sometimes I feel like I'm just treading water and getting nowhere. But I'm determined to at least become competent at the game...if I can do that, I'll be happy. At the moment, I'm trying to figure out what I'm good at, strange as that may sound.
What I mean is defining my own style of play. I thought the idea of a sniper sounded good, but I lack the patience and savvy to play as a sniper. The LMG just feels too bulky and slow to me.

So far believe it or not, I've had decent success with the secondary weapon as my primary, like the final pistol you unlock. (Forget the name.) I like the high degree of mobility, and the hit-and-run type tactics one can use. But of course, it lacks the punch or range of the Assault rifle or SMG, so life with a pistol can be tough sometimes.
It seems like the go-to gun for many seems to be the SMG, and I can see why, since you have a good degree of mobility, punch and their range isn't terrible usually.

Do you ever struggle to make the transition from say, CoD to BF though? I mean, let's say you play CoD for a lengthly spell, do you have to readjust to a different type of game like BF when you go back to it or not really?

All FPSs are usually the same. Once you get the basics down its easy to transition. I have to say that BF is much harder to master. In CoD its all about staying on target and your twitch reflexes, but BF is more tactical. Bullets are modeled in real time in the game, so you have to lead your shots and compensate for gravity. Its easier to go BF to CoD than CoD to BF

    Oh
    My
    LOL

Has anyone bought a season pass? Ridiculous price I think, but I went ahead and bought it anyway.

I think I'm *finally* beginning to turn the corner, albeit slowly, in the game now. I had a bunch of good matches yesterday (interspersed with one or two shockers) but I felt that I was really getting into the groove and actually competing with some fairly good players. Woot! (Watch, I'll suck the rest of the week now.)

Only thing is that I've had serious in-game connection issues over the last few days, resulting in infuriating and needless deaths and broken gameplay.

So how does Prestige mode work? I got to Prestige level, but now everything is locked again. (??)

This is quite disheartening, as I had just unlocked all the weapons, and it seems like I have to go through the entire process again.

The game is very explicit about telling you that it's going to reset everything, that's why it asks you to confirm twice. How did you miss the warnings?

Prestige is actually more forgiving in Black Ops 2, as you get to keep your camo and weapon attachment unlocks. You will, however, have to earn access to those weapons again according to their level requirement.

When you prestige, you'll gain a few things, like an unlock token that you can use to permanently unlock a single item or perk. You can also earn a new custom class slot as well as a few other things. That means you can unlock immediate access to your favourite weapon, but you'll have to get to level 5 again to unlock create-a-class.

I was probably a bit hasty in checking out what Prestige was all about and skipped text I should have read more carefully...oh well, thanks for the explanation.

    Edit:

In my defense though, thinking back I don't specifically recall the game warning me when I went to prestige level. I got the choice of resetting my game right to the start (which does give ample warning admittedly) or getting all my tokens back, or choosing an added class at prestige level, which is what I chose. No big deal I suppose, just saying.
