Thread: Space Marine frame-rate issue

  1. #1

    Default Space Marine frame-rate issue

We're trying to get this Space Marine game to work, but it has severe frame-rate issues. We can play any other game without problem, but this one always stutters occasionally. It's intermittent, but it happens often enough (game slows to a crawl for a few seconds) to make the game unplayable. Any idea how to fix this?

    System specs?
    Using ATI/AMD?

So, actual framerate issues? Not "slomo" issues?

(assuming you've updated all drivers, etc)

I'll get to hunting, but if you have time, you can also browse the official support forums: http://www.spacemarine.com/forums/wa...-bug-reporting

Not entirely sure how to get those, so I'm just going to put down what I came up with after some google help (I right clicked on My Computer then went to properties):

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
    Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
    System type: 64-bit Operating System

It doesn't say here, but the video card is a GTX580

Not sure what else you need, and not sure what ATI/AMD is.

I don't know what "slomo" issues are when compared to frame-rate issues...

Basically what happens is that the game will run fine for a short while, then it will suddenly slow down like everything is going in slow-motion, then speed up again. The slow-down effect can last for anywhere between 5 and 15 seconds (rough estimate) and happens between anything from 5 second intervals to a minute.

It makes the game barely playable.

We did try some googling in the past to see if we could figure this out, but it's either too complicated for us, or doesn't help at all. All we managed to learn is that someone somewhere thinks it might have something to do with Nvidia cards (I have a GTX580). Relic is also incredibly unhelpful, as they have so far ignored all our tickets and mail.

AMD is just another videocard manufacturer/designer. I think he meant to say AMD/Nvidia.

This might be a bit of an obvious one and you might have tried it already, but are all of your drivers up-to-date? Video card, sound card etc?

Yeah, that would be "slo-mo" rather that a slow frame rate issue (which would be like a slide-show).

I've seen a few people on the official forums talk about these issues, no clear solution has been found (that I've seen on the first three pages). Try verifying the game's cache, and getting the latest driver for your graphics card, and the latest microsoft .NET framework.

Does both singleplayer and multiplayer have this issue? Or only multiplayer?

    Both single and multiplayer, apparently.

I have no idea what the rest of the stuff you mentioned means.

Did you download them and install them?

If it's a problem within singleplayer, then it's not a networking issue - it would be a driver / software issue.

It always baffles me when people have trouble with games not running correctly, especially when their components are as high-specced as Kimmy's. I mean honestly, what could you possibly have ****ed up between downloading the right graphics driver and installing it? I've never had any issues with games whatsoever, and I've played the majority of modern titles that include Steamworks and GFWL titles.

Best bet with games having issues is do a system restore to a previous backup, uninstall your graphics drivers using DriverSweeper, reinstall the latest ones from your manufacturer's site (in your case nVidia), be sure to update your DirectX and .NET Frameworks to the latest versions and then install the game.

I have been reading on many forums about speed issue's with the GTX580 and different games.
Next driver update will sort it out hopefully.

    Thank you.

I actually managed to fix this issue on my own, with no assistance. All I had to do was change the aspect ratio (which was set to a TV one for some reason) and then play around with enabling, disabling certain stuff.

    Woop woop xD

The multiplayer is actually now playable, and a heck of a lot of fun. People should join! Quite a few South Africans on already.
