Thread: Bulletstorm and Games for Windows Live

Default Bulletstorm and Games for Windows Live

We're trying to get Bulletstorm to run on our PC, but it won't let us play unless we log into something called "Games for Windows Live". After we log in, it asks us for the product code of the game (it's on the back of the manual), and then after we input that, it tells us that the product key we provided is already registered to another profile.

What do I do about this? I tried searching the site for a way to contact them and get them to give me another product code (since ours has apparently been stolen), but there's no way to actually get a hold of these people.

I'm not sure what to do...

    Games for Windows Live Support

Did you buy the game new? Was it opened when you bought it?

Either use the game publisher, Ambassador chat support or contact them directly with the links at the bottom of the page. I had the same issue with a copy of Metro I bought at Musica, turns out one of the idiots working there had already played and activated the game on Steam.

Yeah I looked at that site, none of it was particularly helpful.

Problem is, my boyfriend and I have a habit of just picking up games when they come out, then leave them unplayed with the intention of playing them at some point in the future. We bought Bulletstorm at a store (probably Look & Listen) months ago, but I obviously don't have receipts or anything like that anymore, and the Xbox/LIVE people are ridiculously unhelpful.

I think I'll just chalk it up as a loss and either forget about it or buy a new copy. Had enough of dealing with Steam, don't need this LIVE thing making life difficult for us as well.

    Thanks though.

I avoid buying games, no matter how much I want them, if they run on GFWL. You'll find a fairly large group of people on these forums absolutely despise GFWL, and for good reason. Personally I also had a run-in with them, when trying to get Fable III to run on it (ironic, spending so much trouble for such a **** game). Spent the better part of 4 hours trying to figure out how the damn GFWL thing works, only to find a game so buggy I couldn't stomach playing it for ****. Too bad, as Fable: TLC remains one of my favourite games ever.

Anyway, contacting them should solve the issue soon enough, though I don't know how picky they are. Guys with Steam require a picture of the original disc and CD key or something, though I've heard guys having trouble with this on other digital distribution systems.

    Good luck. GFWL is bollocks.

GFWL was a total ****fest on Bulletstorm. I had so much issues with it I simply ended up cracking the game. It locked me out of my multiplayer content, but it's better than staring at a screen that refuses to accept your serial key.

Thanks, I think I'll just shelve it.
